Still doesn't change the fact the promotional campaign, singles etc was pretty much non-existent unlike the main albums he pushes.
March 29Mar 29 I really think he will go all out on the next album to get a big selling album after autumn variation not selling well but he really didn't promote it much at all. It very much came and went as quick.

March 29Mar 29 One thing we definitely do NOT need is more Ed Sheeran albums. We've had Covid and Brexit, we don't need you 'ere.
March 29Mar 29 Something tells me that the albums will be stylised to be ▶️, ⏸️, ⏪️, ⏩️ and ⏹️.The GH will be ⏏️
March 29Mar 29 Very unpopular opinion and whilst I don't like all of his work. It baffles me why he's so hated when he actually cares about the charts 🤣Loads of artists don't care at all or have any knowledge on the positions they chart (Especially big global acts) so it's refreshing to have someone that wants to secure number 1's and break records.I do like his big pop numbers so I'm looking forward to Azizam 🫣

March 30Mar 30 Ed has a great ear for a melody, however he has not been sued for plagiarism several times without a reason. My biggest issue with him is the awful lyricism though. I wouldn't even dare to release those as my own but I guess that's kind of part of his charm. Once you go over the line, it becomes your trademark and people are starting to embrace it I guess? Also, the most popular pop music has never been "deep" - I mean Pitbull of all people was a big star for a few years and is now having a revival. I think Ed's next album will be very successful because the trends have turned again and the "easy listening and hummable" pop is coming back a bit. All he needs is another ear worm with cringey lyrics and that's his bread and butter. Edited March 30Mar 30 by Sour Candy

It was the Marvin Gaye estate. That one (Thinking Out Loud) was thrown out because Ed managed to make the point that you can't copyright a chord sequence.
March 30Mar 30 Author for me it's actually Substract that was the epic fail. That was supposed to be his Folklorewith the entire album done with Aaron Dressler after Taylor put them togetherof course he panicked last minute and added Eyes Closed which was done with Max Martinthat nothing to do with the rest of the album, which turned out to be, as Pitchfork put it, "the usual beige palette, generic hooks, and vapid lyrics".But I'm sure he won't repeat the mistake again and this time it's gonna be 1000% pure pop ala Divideand he'll be fine, course-correction and all.
March 30Mar 30 I think the point here is that the same 4 posters come in every time Ed Sheeran has a new release and say the same opinions and it’s tedious for those that aren’t biased in their opinions about him and just are interested to hear what his new music sounds like. I’m not a fan of the new Gaga music, the new Jade song and the Teddy Swims music but I don’t feel the need to go in immediately to their threads and make the same opinions verging on derogatory personal comments about them every time. It’s one thing to have an opinion another to take it too far. I’m sure Ed is fine with things though he makes whatever music he wants at this point of his career and that he lives rent free in peoples head.

March 30Mar 30 Can we get back to discussing Ed/the album itself? I'm sure nobody can be bothered wading through this back and forth that's clearly not getting anywhere.I've not really paid any attention to Ed's last couple of eras but Azizam sounds decent enough even if a regurgitation of everything we've heard before.
March 30Mar 30 There's no one that can write a pop song better than Ed in my opinion that can catch the casual listeners attention. He writes music for people who don't like music but 'Azizam' sounds good from the preview so I'm looking forward to this album. Edited March 30Mar 30 by darrens94
March 30Mar 30 Deleted the bulk of that ongoing argument. Now, if we can just discuss the album and Ed's release, that'd be appreciated. From this point, further comments alluding to the posts I just deleted will just get their posts removed and *potential* warnings issued. Thanks!
