Each week, 8 new releases are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner which will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter of the year, and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2025.

Last week's results;

Addison Rae – Headphones On [ 15 ]

LE SSERAFIM feat. JADE – HOT [ 4 ]

OneRepublic – Invincible [ 3 ]

Morgan Wallen feat. Post Malone – I Ain't Comin' Back [ 2 ]

Craig David – Wake Up [ 1 ]

Say Now – Can't Keep A Beat [ 1 ]

Chloe Qisha – Modern Romance [ 0 ]

Davido feat. Victoria Monét – Offa Me [ 0 ]

==========

Total Votes: 26

Addison Rae has swept up the most votes this week to claim her first weekly victory of 2025! This latest offering follows singles Diet Pepsi, Aquamarine and High Fashion. It could yet become her second Top 40 single.

==========================================

    Great post! You can find Lorde in the Indie Track of the Week poll which you can vote for her!

Also a disclaimer that this week was so stacked with releases that there was no room for me to include the likes of Bradley Simpson, d4vd, Jessie J, Myles Smith and other worthy additions.

I have never heard of Nemo, but Casanova was my favourite out of these.

Edit - Just read that he won Eurovision!!

I think Myles Smith in particular is a bit of glaring omission considering Amy MacDonald is at the very bottom of NMF and not really on anybody’s radar beyond the core fanbase she’s built over the years.

I don't disagree with this. It is hard to strike a balance with the "Radio 1" releases and then anything else that has its own audience.

That said, I don't think Myles had any chance up against some of the other names that did make it to this week's poll.

Honestly love Zara and Amy pretty much equally on first listen! Voted for Amy as she could probably do with the support more!

Amy Macdonald

Zara Larsson

Benson Boone (just after)

Nemo

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

PinkPantheress

(though I feel like I'll be listening to all the above lots!)

Lauren Spencer Smith

Tom Odell

I'd personally have put Lorde in this list too (I feel that's more pop than some of these!), which would have been my number one! Probably best it's not here though, as I suspect that would trounce the competition 🤣

My personal rankings this week;

  1. Nemo – Casanova

  2. Benson Boone – Mystical Magical

  3. Amy MacDonald – Is This What You've Been Waiting For?

  4. Zara Larsson – Pretty Ugly

  5. Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Vertigo

  6. Tom Odell – Don't Let Me Go

  7. PinkPantheress – Stateside

  8. Lauren Spencer-Smith – IF KARMA DOESNT GET YOU (I WILL)

PinkPantheress gets my vote. The Sophie song is one of her best in a while too.

LOVE Stateside but have to go for my girl Zara whose bop has had me stomping and splashing about making music videos in the shower for the last few days x
