Last year they froze the main playlist for two weeks so let's see if they do the same this time.

I don't quite get the point of suspending the main playlist for a week or more, why not just suspend it for the weekend, or for the few days leading up to the Big Weekend? They're surely still going to be playing songs from the main playlist here and there. And poor old Calvin Harris will have to wait to be added to the playlist now! Does anyone know if they've been playing 'Blessings' this week? They must have done, right?

But isn't Big Weekend next weekend? Why implement the playlist already, who cares, next week or even better just next weekend it would be more than enough

Great! Not! Guess for the week leading up it'll be ok. Was it just one week or two last year that the Big Weekend playlist was in for? Think two weeks would be OTT really.

It was two weeks last year so I'm guessing it will be the same again

Apart from the Tune of the Week on Going Home, I don’t think Blessings has been played at all (and probably won’t be until it gets on the playlist on the 30th May).

In terms of this playlist, from what I can tell, it basically replaced the A, B and C Lists for the 2 weeks. So the songs that are on recurrent will continue to get played, but things like Calvin Harris that haven’t made the playlist yet will not.

(That’s how it seemed to work last year anyway, they might change it this year)

The website does say that the playlist runs until Thursday, though they could easily extend it.

And Lola Young is on the main stage?? Bizarre.

BH Monday will be the best of the Big Weekend and they'll spend the week playing recordings of tracks from the weekend probably to Friday 30th May when they'll refresh the playlist again. Calvin Harris is the only major track they have missed out on so far. I guess it'll have some plays on the dance shows this weekend which is something.

I tell a lie… Lorde, Ed Sheeran and Calvin Harris have all been played today and obviously none are on the Big Weekend playlist so they’re still playing some non-big weekend stuff, that’s good to see and definitely an improvement from last year

When they first did the BW playlist in 2023, they had a new playlist running Tuesday-Thursday after Bank Holiday. Last year the BW playlist ran for two full weeks. I agree it makes sense to be Friday 30th for the next update, it’s just the website says otherwise at the moment.

I reckon whenever the next playlist is, Calvin Harris will be added to the A-list.

Oh and that Nia Archive track is a serious tune. Hopefully it gets added properly soon.

So, over the weekend we've had:

Sugababes

Round Round [3 plays]

Too Lost In You (Live Lounge) [3 plays]

Push The Button [2 plays]

What Was That (Live Lounge) [2 plays]

About You Now [1 play]

Natasha Bedingfield

These Words [4 plays]

Unwritten [3 plays]

Not exactly loads of variety x

I'd love to hear Natasha Bedingfield's 'I Wanna Have Your Babies' on R1 😃

It was on the A List in 2007 so they could give it a spin.

I appreciate they want to play the big hitters as that's in line with their Anthems stream but something like that, Single or I Bruise Easily would also be welcome! Pocketful of Sunshine though not released here has done well on socials in recent years and would be a welcome sound

At a glance on Sounds they played Freak Like Me a little earlier for Sugababes but still just These Words and Unwritten for Natasha. Surprised they're not bothering with Single or Pocketful Of Sunshine...
