Wolf Alice have their first Top 75 hit *.*

  • Elated that ‘Baller’ did hang on to its top 40 position what a shame that quite an interesting week for new entries wasn’t on the radio. I finally get to add a new girl group top 40 to my relevant p

Who is this Skye Newman? Industry plant?

You don't know someone automatically makes them an industry plant 😳

With "Ordinary" being number one for a tenth week, Alex Warren equals the amount of weeks at number one spent consecutively by "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston in 1992 and "Umbrella" by Rihanna featuring Jay-Z in 2007.

I Will Always Love You, Umbrella and… Ordinary

Two classics and ehem a very ordinary non-classic song :D

Sissal must have been one or two places out from a top 100 placing given she was top 10 on itunes most of the week and top 200 for a couple of days on Apple music.

well at least Remember Monday and Abor & Tynna will likely get the consolation of performing well in my annual Non-Top 20 Hits poll for the R1BW clash stopping them get a chart show play, not that I expect Tommy Cash will do quite as well with the Buzzjack vote.

good to see Calvin climbing on week two and Charli grabbing another top 20 hit. new Skye Newman and Lola Young songs aren't bad. hopefully the Morgan/Tate whining sinks as fast as inevitably the Eurovision songs will.

Also 'Sprinter', 'Flowers', 'As It Was'... and 'Cara Mia'

Wolf Alice 😍

Really would like to see some stats on how Baller (meh) beat Tommy Cash (earworm of the year). He was ahead on everything all week as far as I saw.

7 version available vs 1 would be the biggest factor (also 40 to 34 sales wise isn't a humongous gap)

Great to see Espresso Macchiato make it in - when was the last time we had an Estonian inside the Top 40?

I knew Baller was doing well across streaming charts but didn't notice it get that much higher than Tommy Cash so nice to see it that high! Three Eurovision entries in the Top 40 for the second year in a row then, doing much better than the pre-2023 years.

THIS!

So why exactly did Baller of all the foreign songs end up dong so well considering it didn't even feature in the UK public's top 10 on the night?

Probably because the people that vote and the people that actually listen to the music dont marry up 🫣

It wasn’t one of the chosen few hyped to the heavens entries like Sweden that really just aren’t that good

It’s a dance track with processed vocals so the live version didn’t work brilliantly and the performance didn’t stand out. But as a studio track it’s great.
