I know Three Lions peaked at number one, but I wanted to highlight its chart position on 7 July 1996 - which was number 3.

  • I've been doing a Countdown style numbers puzzle to try to get 10538 Overture by ELO to its peak position of 9. It took me a while but I've done it: 3 x 8 = 24 -5 = 19 -10 = 9

Fascinating...

well clearly there'd be a lot more examples if this was 'songs that spent a chart week at the number referenced in its title'

here's an interesting one, a 'Stars on 45' parody titled 'Starturn on 45 (Pints)' by a band of the same name peaked at... #45

Utah Saints - Something Good '08...

If we count Dan's ten-uous ones for #10, I think every position in the Top 10 has been covered in this thread except #6 - the closest I can come up with is Hot Chocolate's 1997 release of "You Sechs-y Thing"

This wins post of the month tbh *.* might as well close this thread now!

50 Cent - P.I.M.P. peaked at #5 ('pimp' means 5 in certain old English dialects). 🙂

I've got a tenuous one: 'Heavyweight Champion Of The World' by Reverend & The Makers peaked at #8.

And a more credible one: 'Sweet Little Sixteen' by Chuck Berry peaked at #16.

This inspiring me to check if there are any interesting Roman numeral examples... the answer to that is mostly no (there'll be lots of trivial examples for I = 1, IV = 4, V = 5, VI = 6, IX = 9, X = 10, L = 50 and LI = 51, plus a couple for XI = 11) but did find one that stood out as quite unlikely, Nelly and Keri Hilson's 'Liv Tonight' peaked at #54. Looks like it's one of only two songs on Polyhex that have 'Liv' as a full word in the title along with Do Me Bad Things' 'Move In Stereo (Liv Ullman On Drums)', which was only 5 places away from making this an even more fun fact as it peaked at #49.

(there's also Bastille's Pompeii peaking at #2 (and technically also Supergrass' 'Richard III' lol), Felix Da Housecat's 'Silver Screen Shower Scene' at #55, and for another mildly interesting #54 example 'Liverpool Anthem' by Liverpool Football Club).

“Not Nineteen Forever” by the Courteeners peaked at No. 19.

It may well be 19 forever!!

In 1955, two songs charted, both called 'Seventeen', both presumably covers of the same song (as was common in the 50s). They peaked within a couple of weeks of each other, one at #16 and one at #18 lol

Black Velvets - 3345 peaked at #34.

Azealia Banks - 212 peaked at #12.

And with the countdown thing I'm sure you can get to #9 from Logic's 1-800-273-8255

Hahaha that reminded

Me of that cappella song 2 x root square of 231 😆 but cannot recall where it peak or solve that equation 😆

Speaking of Cappella, U Got 2 Let The Music reached number 2.

Ciara- 1 2 Step (add them up) got to number 3! 😂

That was actually credited to Anticappella. 2 x square root of 231 = 30.397 but the song sadly peaked 6 places higher at #24.

If we have to use all of the numbers, 0*0*8*1*3*8*2*5*5 + 7 + 2

The irony of Four Five Seconds peaking at #3, instead of 2, 4 or 5.
