The Bookies have slashed the odds of XMAS being the Christmas #1.

I got it at 22/1 yesterday, it’s now 10/1.

If it comes anywhere close to Tension II's first week sales I'll eat my hat with Xmas dinner.

Il manifest the number 1 vibes but im cautious more so with the single, i do think the album has a very strong chance as kylie has enough stans to get at least 20k and thats not counting a few casuals.

Im hoping that XMAS while will have the standard short chart run for Christmas songs can bow out on over 200k.

I’m manifesting both will be #1 however ill equally be estatic if Xmas goes Top 10!

I think the album has a strong chance surely - Kylie’s album sales have been consistent since her BMG ‘comeback’, we have 9 variations plus you can pick up the vinyl for around £21/22 which should help.

Even though it’s a greatest hits Christmas mash up album I can’t see it doing less than 25k (although I think we’ll see 30k+) - she’s has one of the strongest fanbases that collect every variant and I have a feeling they’ll be more to come (they seem to do a drop of cassettes release week).

I kind of wouldn’t be surprised if it surpassed it tbh! There are just soooo many versions old and new for fans to buy, streaming should be strong and I can see Tesco Mary (Mary)’s picking it up as a Christmas gift

Its hard to call, i can see it doing very well but im unsure of 25k very well or 38k very well.

i'm being cautious until we start seeing vinyl things sell out haha and sell out to UK buyers lol, not worldwide

does Amazon usually give the performers success in other countries with Alexa or is it just UK?

The songs given a particular push in the UK don't tend to have impact elsewhere unfortunately. Whether Kylie bucks that trend, we can only wait and see.

UK chart runs for some of the Amazon Music Original Christmas songs (UK focus):

Judging by the last couple of years, we could perhaps see 'XMAS' enter the singles chart on 21st November (I imagine that 14th November is too soon for impact). It could even make the Top 10 on 12th December, which is the chart a week in advance of the Christmas chart week, before the physicals are released. It should manage 5 weeks in the Top 40 this year and 7 weeks Top 100. Oh and it should be guaranteed a silver certification, all of the above songs managed it. None of have managed gold yet though.

Useful Jay, thank you.

With Christmas Day falling on a Thursday likely means it will be far and away the biggest sales week for XMAS. Looks as though the dates are similar to when Ellie Goulding took number 1 (Christmas Day Wednesday)

Boxing Day streams are usually decent before the rapid tail off but should still chart ok that following week just a big drop in chart position.

I can’t see XMAS being the actual Christmas number one announced 19/12…despite the physicals. The Alexa spam won’t be as prominent.

I think Xmas being number 1 for Christmas depends on whether Kylie / Her team push it and there's a bit of a campaign behind it. If there's a few digital versions acoustic / extended on release week and fans rally round she could do it alongside physicals if there's some big TV promo lined up as well as Jingle Bell Ball etc it's going to be hard going but it wouldn't take much given Amazon streams will still be decent.

I really feel like this won’t be Christmas #1. More like #11 > out. But i’m happy to be proving wrong.

We want a top 10 fingers crossed.

the CD 4.99, Vinyl 12.99 and 19.99 are not cheap,

if they had done a 2.99, 9.99 and 12.99 ....

however us Kylie collectors love a challenge and we know what can be done

I think she could make #1 with both actually will be very interesting to see.

Top 10 is guaranteed surely and I'd say she has top 5 for both pretty much on lock. Keeping fingers crossed for her. ❤️

I mean Kylie has never had an Xmas number 1. Closest was Especially For You? And we love a Challenge

It will be top 3 pretty much guaranteed! All Amazon releases end up in the top 3 purely because of playlist support and Alexa spamming the Amazon exclusive.

It’s just whether it reaches a wider audience who buy into it and if there’s good promo surrounding it being number 1.

No Amazon exclusives yet have gone 11-out so even if it’s not as huge as I’m hoping I’m certain it’ll chart for multiple weeks and go Top 10.

The main UK song that Amazon pushes each year have performed well - Ellie #1, Sam Ryder #2, Tom Grennan #3, Jess Glynne #3 etc.,

The prices are pretty standard for now to be honest - I’m not convinced them being cheaper would result in significant more sales.

Singles are essentially a defunct format made for fans and collectors - if somebody doesn’t want a 2 track 7” vinyl for £12.99 I’m not sure it being £9.99 would change their mind too much.
