November 12Nov 12 Author I decided to listen to it live on Radio 1 (where they played it three times in a row 😂) and Robyn was being interviewed. She said it was written about 10 years ago and I think that it does show, it definitely feels as though it could have been written for Body Talk. I wasn't sure on first listen what I thought but by the time they'd played it the third time I was definitely more into it and the chorus is definitely stuck in my head at the moment.Lyrically I felt it was definitely typical Robyn, a track that describes a familiar moment (or feeling) that a lot of people will likely be able to relate to. The production isn't as far removed from her biggest recent hits as I was expecting from the clip, it's definitely got an extension of her trademark sound, in particular the production reminded me of Missing U - albeit there are a few unexpected flourishes in the way the vocals come in, and the electronic repeated variants on the title does make it sound just about sufficiently different... off to listen some more ☺️
November 12Nov 12 The backing production is very Missing U, with hints of Body Talk. I absolutely ADORE it on first listen. So happy to have her back, flawless, high-energy, emotional pop - a perfect recipe.
November 12Nov 12 Author I'm hoping that the album has more variety. She's done a lot of collaborations that really show she can work well on all sorts of sounds, so I'd like more diversity there. I'd be happy with more leftfield electronica production as well.
November 13Nov 13 I like it! It's nothing new: very Robyn by numbers, but I think we all want that from her at this stage!Interestingly, it's cowritten by Taio Cruz (where's he been for the last 10 years), and some of the lyrics feel very him!
November 13Nov 13 eeee this is v good i do wonder what does she do with her life / for money in the 7/8 years between records! i do know she’s a mother to a son now so that will have probs been the focus for the past few years
November 13Nov 13 I didn't even realise she was releasing new music but if I wanted anything from her, this was definitely it. Smashing.
November 13Nov 13 I like it and it's great to hear her voice again, but I can't help feeling a bit underwhelmed

November 13Nov 13 It's nice, lots of sparkling production flourishes and her lovely voice is always so welcome to hear on something new. Let's see how much I put it on repeat before I commit to a strong opinion, as it feels like a grower.Taio Cruz is an interesting collaborator, not heard anything about him in ages and wouldn't have linked him to Robyn as he generally made commercial party pop.

So he's probably still doing whatever he's been doing since 😂I suspect Klas and Robyn wrote it with Taio back in the day, and decided to finish it now as it matches the "happier" vibe that Robyn wants to portray!
November 13Nov 13 This is the first time I was a bit underwhelmed by a Robyn song. Its very good and I will be listening to it but hoping it’s just an entrée.
November 13Nov 13 Author I understand the underwhelmed comments, I think it is my least favourite lead single from her since she returned - or at least it's definitely more on the level of Missing U than Dancing On My Own or With Every Heartbeat/Be Mine!/Who's That Girl (depending upon which region you're in!). I wish Dopamine was a little more daring and went almost full on Daft Punk in production style as I feel like that would really have worked for the track.Last time around she stepped it up from Missing U to Honey so fingers crossed for the same to happen again 🤩
November 13Nov 13 Author In other news, I've only recently realised that Röyksopp have released an album of the versions of the tracks they played on their recent True Electric tour... which means I finally get to listen to the wonderful version of Monument they played, this has really turned into one of my favourite Robyn tracks over the years:
November 14Nov 14 This song is not for me. I find the background "Do Do" Vocals so annoying that it is really a pain to listen.
