I very nearly named my country Samantha when I first joined. This was a month or two before an actual Samantha joined Buzzjack, which would've made that awkward so I'm glad I thought of Harmonica instead! My capital city is Veronica, so if I ever did change the name maybe it'd be to that.

  • I wanted something connected to music, but also something that I felt both sounded and looked nice... so Fljótavík was chosen from the track titles in my iTunes library, it just felt right when I saw

Would anyone be shocked to know that mine is just squareblack in Finnish and French?

That was a struggle to come up with x

I quite dislike my country name tbh. I'm pretty sure it was literally just random too. It's actually a girl's name, but I didn't know that at the time. I'm not sure why I didn't come up with something more interesting and meaningful, which I'm sure I would do now haha.

For one contest I was also Moonland (The Nation Formerly Known as Deandria) because the song I entered was called 'Moonland' and I thought it would be funny.

Like Jade I wanted something that linked to my username and being a geo-nerd wanted to spin off an actual country. So Dominican Republic became Kluminican Republic! I was very briefly Kluminica (shout out to Dominica) for a few contests but the name didn’t stand out as much so I reverted back.

I wouldn’t change my name at this point! Think it made sense then and makes sense now.

I based my country name of the name of the puppet used in the 70's, 80's and 90's (it's all digital now..) to introduce commercial breaks on Dutch national television: Loeki de Leeuw (Loeki the Lion). The name was derived from the English verb "to look".

If I were to change my country name, it would probably be something 80's girl group related....

That's a bit of a handful but we've def seen weirder names (looking at you Blackcurrantbillyoland)

I did also change my country name for one contest to 'Land of Ostriches' because le epic funnie random xx

At one point I planned to do a one off contest reverting my country name to Egabbac, I was going to send Ou Est Le Swimming Pool's 'Dance The Way I Feel' which felt like a throwback to that era, but I changed my mind and never ended up doing that (and mdh sent that song as a throwback instead coincidentally, turns out I missed out on a big hit with it). I don't think I would ever change my name again now, Persephonia still feels like a satisfying name to me x

I know you didn't ask but I'm happy to suggest a new name you can use: Amatababi (What's Amatababi?)

I know, it's genius.

Amattobaby will confirm the next winning entry!

Lol I do have one potential I love that I'd like to send soon (not next contest) that I'm lowkey a bit scared might end up being a winning contender and then I'd have to decide whether to host, gah 🥲 Would still be cool to win though don't get me wrong

I don't normally feel that way about my entries but I do have a feeling about that one. I also did feel that way about 'Sanctuary' and it won.

I just wanted mine to be a pun on an already existent country and it turns out there's only 1 which features the letters "ob" in that order so it was an easy choice.

As others have humorously mentioned on previous occasions I suppose my next choice if I ever change it would be Drinidad because funny.

Lol I remember there was once (or twice, not sure) a BJSC Country Name Rate. I think I kinda half-assed some of my scores lol, would probably think a bit more about it now 😆

Edit: This isn't an indirect request to start one of those lmao, rates can be scary and drama-filled xo

D'yermak'er comes from Jamaica

Persephonia comes from Persephone

Séyetana comes from Eyes

Fljótavík comes from Iceland / Sigur Rós

Already dropped the lore in the other thread re: New Lexico. In terms of where I got my previous contry names

Allecian - ....no thoughts, head empty (see also: my choice of entries from BJSC 5 - 13)

Scruvovnia - idk I was bored of Allecian and it sounded at least slightly more like the name of an actual country, giving defunt eastern european kingdom vibes
