A little background on my entry - it's a bit of a throwback to around the time when I first started taking any interest in music, my early taste in music outside the scope of the charts being shaped by Colin Murray's late night show on Radio 1, he was a big champion of Malcolm Middleton and was I believe responsible for (or at the very least a major promoter of) one of the first attempts to push a random song to Christmas #1, that being Malcolm's delightfully festive ditty 'We're All Going To Die' which landed at #31 for the Christmas chart of 2007. Of course he had no other hits but I remembered Colin also playing 'Red Travellin' Socks' a lot and it's a lovely bit of wholesome heartland rock with some great building guitars on the back end. I do figure my love for it is probably heavily nostalgia based and I don't expect it'll pick up many points but I hope it was a nice discovery for at least a couple of you!

(being as much of a stickler for never recycling artists as I am, I very nearly decided to discard it as a potential when I looked him up and discovered he is a member of Arab Strap - news to me! - who were a DNQ artist in BJSC a few years ago lol. But ultimately I couldn't think of anything else I particularly wanted to send, at least not before the deadline, so I am letting that go for the second time this year after also doing a partial recycle sending Katie Gavin of MUNA to the Pop Forum Song Contest. I know no one other than me cares but my purity </3 )

As I posted in the thread this is the first edition of this where I have multiple songs I am a bit sad to cut out of my points so a quick commiserative shoutout to It Bites, V V Brown and Feist who all just miss out, plenty of other pretty good entries here as well. Happy to be giving my 12 to a song that's new to me (I didn't pay attention to that FKA twigs era), I did already know the Fiona song due to Jade showing it to me before so I have to assume that is her entry also already knew Friendly Fires and Sam Sparro (+ I recognised the bit of the AWOLNATION song that's used in memes lol but the rest of the song is quite different to that part so it's mostly new to me), the rest are all discoveries.
