RAYE might manage a week at the top if Ophelia does go ACR seeing as it’s on DCL-1

Wham will probably block her if she doesnt get to the top before then

Interesting looking at 3 wicked tracks entering but only 1 featuring ariana grande 😮

I’m expecting For Good to be the highest charting Wicked song and funny how Wham! always do better than Mariah over here but in America, it’s the other way around

As plenty have already said American playlisting , and Mariah is American, wham is british probably the reason,

It will be interesting to see what happens this year with the Christmas Day streams seeing as Christmas is on a Thursday, the day that streams usually get lost

OCC Estimated Rules

01 RAYE – WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!

02 Taylor Swift – The Fate of Ophelia

03 Olivia Dean – So Easy (To Fall In Love

Need RAYE to go #1 so badly, terrific track and would be great to see two British women number 1 (as leads) in the same calendar year again (hasn’t happened since Raye herself, Dua Lipa and Kenya Grace in 2023)

14 Cynthia Erivo – No Good Deed

15 Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande – For Good

Hoping these can slowly creep their way to higher peaks (potentially top ten), been climbing on Apple all day - at #31 and and #45 respectively at midnight, now at #12 and #23 (no surprise since the folks that saw the film on Friday and now streaming the ost). I imagine something similar will happen when we get the Spotify updates tomorrow for Saturdays showing.

I hadn't realised that Sonny Fodera song had spent a couple of weeks in the top 40 without even cracking the top 200 on Spotify yet! It's not even charting that well on Apple unlike 'Somedays' either.

Do any of these songs have a chance of challenging for Xmas no1 or will they peak the week after Xmas when people are actually on their holidays?

New Spotify Chart is out!

The Christmas Hits playlist changes have had a massive impact.

The Ronettes ‘Sleigh Ride’ is the biggest beneficiary, climbing 93 places to 19 after being moved up to 2nd on the list. Mariah leapfrogs Wham! up from 9 to 4 whilst Wham! are steady at 6.

For some reason Wham! were briefly moved up to 1st place on the playlist and Mariah down to about 5, but now Mariah is back up to 1st on the list, with Wham! moved right down to 6.

Playlist should be disqualified if they gonna have the same songs at the top all the time put some fresh Christmas songs up there

If it means Mariah is Christmas number one instead of Wham I'll be happy but it's very frustrating that what does well in the charts at this time of year is completely dictated by where songs are placed on curated playlists. Would be way more interesting to watch the charts in December if these playlists were excluded from chart calculations...

Insane to see such big climbs for all the Christmas songs and the the Pogues only up 10 spots

Because they are not on that playlist. Very frustrating indeed.

so annoying that spotify don’t actually push a separate uk tailored christmas playlist and instead we just get our chart more americanised

but I expect the pogues will make their way into the official top ten by christmas as ever

Pleased to see 'No Good Deed' reaching a new peak on Spotify today despite the Christmas onslaught, up a couple of places to #31

I’ve said it before I do think there’s a chicken and egg aspect to this. Wham! is at the top of the playlists because it’s the most popular and not the other way round in my opinion. People put the playlist on because it has their favourites near the top, and if it didn’t they’d play a different one.

Not saying the playlists don’t affect the numbers of course, and it’s true that British Christmas songs are done dirty by them. But I don’t think excluding streams from them would be fair as they’re still deliberate plays (plus I bet you’d broadly find the same songs still at the top anyway).

I’d like to see Leona in the top ten of that Spotify Christmas playlist but I know it will never happen 🙄
