Hello everyone,

I have a very important information to share regarding the participation in BJSC180!!!

After further review and new information that has come to my attention, I have made the decision to withdraw AY YOLA “Homay” from the current BJSC edition.

It was recently discovered that the band publicly supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. As this directly contradicts my values and the values I want Bøtanikkä to represent, therefore I cannot continue to participate with an entry tied to that stance.

I apologise for the disruption mid-contest, but I believe it’s the right thing to do.
Thank you to everyone who listened, supported, and your understanding is truly appreciated.

A replacement entry will not be submitted, and Bøtanikkä will sit out the remainder of this edition, but will be back if we're allowed in BJSC181.

I just want to add that I hope everyone knows that in no way I am trying to bring/create drama this late in the contest!!!

I enjoy the contest way too much so this was not an easy decision to make, but I just feel better sitting this one out!!!

Still ironing out exact details but I think I can safely say we'll definitely be fine to allow Bøtanikkä in BJSC 181 no matter what.

Logistically, could it not be balanced by having more qualifiers if we have essentially an automatic DNQ?

Mother has voted! Really struggled to get it down from my top 15 to 10 votes so a pretty strong semi imo!

I also love FARC’s AQ !! It was annoying me that I recognised the beginning couple of notes/beats of it but then it clicked! It sounds just like the opening to Lifetimes by Katy Perry, lol!

The only thing with continuing it as normal is that there's a disadvantage to those in semi 1 if it's harder to qualify than it would be in semi 2, unless an extra song gets through from semi 1 I suppose
