Pretty much all of these songs except Billie Jean I could happily go my whole life without hearing again.

I always wonder what songs people said that about in like 1950 or the likes

Oo great to see Tyla's "CHANEL" boosted *_* Thought it would get lost in the shuffle. Perhaps that will help secure it a top 20 position come tomorrow!

Also I would love "Man I Need" to be reset. It got really unlucky with its ACR timing and would love it to get some more weeks at #1. Especially with it re-peaking/reaching new heights in the US.

I'm hoping RAYE can still do it. She's up to a new peak on global spotify at #5 (also new peak of #8 on US spotify!) with almost 5 million streams which is amazing! Tyla's "CHANEL" also up to a new peak of #8 and over 4 millino streams on global. So happy that two songs I really like are doing so well - usually it's the opposite that happens. loll

I'd expect a big boost for Purple rain in the next few days

I ruddy hope not, it is the most overrated song ever. Plus, there’s at least three better songs in the finale that I would prefer to see chart, “Sweet Jane”, “Here Comes Your Man”, and “The Trooper” with the initial two never making the top 40 before.

Heroes could do well? Played over the end credits and it's the 10th anniversary of Bowie's death soon too.

And cinemas are showing Labyrinth next week which is coincidentally on the anniversary of Bowie’s death

Tiffany at a new peak despite not being New Year playlisted!

As it was already one of the 40 biggest non-Christmas songs on Monday’s Chart Update, and has kept on growing, I expect it to make the top 40 tomorrow - unless there are lots of last-minute resets! Hooray.

How bizarre that the song Kylie knocked off the Number 1 spot in 1988 when she had her first number 1 single is charting again at the same time as Kylie’s latest Number 1 single.

Fingers crossed, they are both in the top 40.

Looking at the songs getting new years boosts I wish they also had a UK centric new years playlist!

Me too. We should be seeing Steps, S Club 7, Drizzee Rascal, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, etc. Or songs like Make Luv, Music Sounds Better With You, Call On Me, Groovejet, Waves, etc. Just random examples. But it is really sad. Other countries which don't share their language with the US get their local hits. Oh well.

Did you not realise we are basically Little America these days 🤭

Given no one had actually heard of the song before 2023/24 and the song at #2 on the playlist is literally from 1979 that seems like a weird bone to pick

It's pointless you have the same back and forth with him every time PPC is involved in the conversation

Was at a karaoke pub on the 30th (most patrons around 22-35 in age) and some of the biggest reactions were local British songs - Love Machine, Scandalous, The Boy Does Nothing, World of Our Own. Alongside international hits by brits (Smalltown Boy, Babooshka, Stay [Shakespeares Sister], Bulletproof [La Roux].

Absolutely wild that Man I Need is not only the only song here with only 1 week at number one on OCC, but the only one with less than 6 weeks period.
