Like Stay Another Day, it's just been adopted as a defacto Christmas song since it was a Christmas #1 on 1996 (like East 17 were in 1994) and the video is very wintery which is why the video channels play it year round as part of the Christmas blocks.

Christmas still has top 28 on Apple UK, meanwhile in the US the highest non-Christmas song is already #2.

Id definitely be surprised if RUTH(ADWG) doesn't get a boost this week considering it was the main song used in all 3 episodes of this volume , and prominent in that final scene of episode 6

Wham! did over 500k on Boxing Day and the top 3 is unchanged with Olivia at #4, the only non-Christmas song in the top 14. The Pogues climb (as they usually do on days when people are more selective about their listening) to #10.
