January 1Jan 1 Yes many thanks Brer, made it great fun to follow along with the radio, thank you for all the lovely stats!Petition for a countdown of the all-time top 100 on BJSC FM at some point!
January 1Jan 1 I'm sad I missed the rest of the presenting this week. That was so wonderful, and I look forward to the monthly radio shows where you present every single entry this year 🖤
January 1Jan 1 Well obviously it did seem likely that Infohazard was going to win as it scored the most points all year (and I suspect may have coupled that with the lowest number of participants possibly?) but I wasn't expecting it to make 3rd of all time so a huge hurrah for that stat! Thanks once more to both Rob and Brer for all the effort this week, it's been really fun and lovely to look back on the year like this and it must have taken some effort to put together, much appreciated xx

January 1Jan 1 infohazard dominance this song also did very well in eurovision fc spaces despite this probably not a song you expect to hear in eurovision! the wide appeal is real x
January 1Jan 1 Author Thank you to everyone’s who joined any of the listenthroughs for the last week, it’s super appreciated and makes the effort feel worthwhile. I’ve really enjoyed the community side of BJSC this year, the most I have since the Plug.DJ days and that’s definitely been shown in the buzz in this thread.I’d love to have done a The Best Of this year as I know it rounds off the year nicely but quite frankly, it would’ve taken up too much time and probably collided with BJSC 181 in the end so this felt like a fun alternative, and if you’ve enjoyed it, I’d be more than happy to replicate it in future contests. And of course I had to drop “d-d-d-dirty devotion” after the countdown. I feel it’s become my accidental rick roll and felt like an appropriate way to sign out.If I haven’t included your songs or countries enough, I can only apologise but I hope you’ve found some fun in this regardless - love you all ❤️
January 1Jan 1 Thanks once again Rob, this has been a lot of fun this week <3 I'd certainly be up for this being a regular end of year event now if you'd be happy to repeat the effort put into it (and apols to suddenly be a downer but I've needed the distraction today due to some petty family drama so I was more than happy to devote my attention to harvesting BJSC stats for the last ~7 hours x).And speaking of harvesting stats...>> clicky for an extremely excessive all time stats dump Google sheet <<When I copied it over from Excel it pasted the % column as plain numbers but I changed it back to the formula calculating it from the raw numbers in case anyone is curious / wants to critique me doing it in probably not the most efficient way xx(I used all countries' current names in the 'country' column so all entries by a country would be grouped together if you sort it by that column, but the names from the time of the contest are there as well, I just put them in a hidden column C x)I do have an idea for an alternative all-time ranking that might smooth out the bias towards certain older contests so I might try and find a moment over the weekend to redo the list and see if that promotes 'Infohazard' to the all-time top 2 but yeah, that is not a job for right now xx
January 1Jan 1 If I may chuck some more stats in this thread... across the year, 44 nations had top 10 finishes - one fewer than in 2024: 6 | peak: 1 | Danæviia6 | peak: 1 | Neliönoir5 | peak: 1 | Cor Lupus5 | peak: 1 | Fljótavík4 | peak: 1 | Bøtanikkä4 | peak: 1 | Jadakissnia4 | peak: 2 | Kathaldazia4 | peak: 2 | Skall4 | peak: 3 | POPHub3 | peak: 1 | Ajanaeda3 | peak: 1 | FSR Rontvia3 | peak: 1 | Kluminican Republic3 | peak: 1 | République d'Áskorza3 | peak: 2 | FARC3 | peak: 5 | Hendinia3 | peak: 6 | Terra Avium2 | peak: 2 | Bronzil2 | peak: 2 | New Lexico2 | peak: 3 | Aeroche2 | peak: 3 | A-Konohagakure2 | peak: 5 | Elëdan2 | peak: 6 | Cumulonimbia2 | peak: 6 | Land of DW2 | peak: 7 | Altyr Muunilinst2 | peak: 8 | Greenfroze1 | peak: 2 | Aesthetica1 | peak: 2 | Lentyll1 | peak: 3 | Hushkanukia1 | peak: 3 | Pestolia1 | peak: 4 | East Rukahavian1 | peak: 4 | Scotland 21 | peak: 4 | Summericia1 | peak: 5 | Persephonia1 | peak: 6 | Lookylion1 | peak: 6 | Zanmatony1 | peak: 7 | Macromia1 | peak: 7 | Thelonia1 | peak: 7 | Trifoski1 | peak: 9 | Aelandor1 | peak: 9 | Cheiron1 | peak: 9 | Hinterlandia1 | peak: 9 | Yehesi1 | peak: 10 | Mothertopia1 | peak: 10 | Taahino And as in 2024, nine of the EOY top 50 had none, including one of the EOY top 20: Sovarasma (20th)Séyetana (28th)Lotunia (32nd)Baleghde (36th)The Spodic Empire (41st)Herbilore (42nd)Jupiterdonia (43rd)Dobago (44th)Flynnonda (47th)
January 2Jan 2 Author Oh yes, a huge thank you to Brer for his contributions. I would’ve loved to have been able to present Joseph-style with a live thing on here but as I’ve said many times, I’ve been at work both days. So I’m so glad Brer came in, completely unasked but it really enhanced the whole thing.
January 2Jan 2 Great to get three entries in the top 100, I was sadly tuned out for all but REDRUM but that's a very solid performance.I actually forgot about You, it was right at the start of the year and I think I DNQed that contest so was less engaged in the final, but I think that would be my favourite in the top 10 followed closely by Night Tapes <3 I voted for half of the top 10 so a decent result, congrats to Fljotavik, was never in doubt with a landslide like that! And thrilled to see Night Tapes in 2nd (not at all bitter given I only finished 8th with them x), I agree with the sentiment to stream portals//polarities xxThanks so much for putting this together Rob and to Bre for the stats, I couldn't tune in as much (and missed any that may have been referencing my entries) but the radio presenter parts were wonderful when I heard them, you should consider a side-hustle there x I do miss TBO but do get that it's just a bit difficult to run nowadays, so it's great we've managed to find an EOY celebration that really works.
January 2Jan 2 Nice to see 8 appearances for us in the top 1000. Oop at Cathedrals down in the 700's though lol. Thanks for hosting this Rob. Been fun following along!
January 2Jan 2 I did NOT expect Tatu to land us in the all-time Top 5 ooopsThird to last with Shadeux though lol
January 2Jan 2 OMG, what a wonderful child's art for my old flag.(I don't remember doing something like that at all but funnily enough I was thinking of going for land and sky for the new flag) Edited January 2Jan 2 by AllStarBySmashMouth
January 2Jan 2 Not Jim robbing us of a top 10 finish I’m going to guess that, much like everyone else, he refused to believe that Julia Sophie managed 10th!
January 2Jan 2 Ah you're right, my Excel sheet came up with a difference in one of the spellings of Fljótavík! Corrected.
January 2Jan 2 Thank you! Now if you could just ignore any alphabetisation and list us above Cor Lupus then that would be great ☺️

This new ranking passes the sniff test a lot better and is based on something fairly simple - I found the mean and standard deviation of the points in each contest (based on pre-deduction scores for any songs that got deducted) and the songs are ranked on how many standard deviations they were above or below the mean.If the above explanation makes no sense to you then A) why did you not do a degree in statistics like I did?, B) trust me bro and C) the gist is that a song that finishes way ahead of the pack while everything else is relatively close does very well here, hence 'Infohazard' at #1. 'The Last Time' did get very high points from most voters, but so did a handful of other songs in that contest (by the nature of people having to vote for 15 out of only 31 songs!), so in that sense it makes sense that it was not as dominant a winner as 'Infohazard' or indeed 28 other winners. In fact by this metric Sumner is actually the most successful non-winner ever, ranking at #50 all time! Which did immediately strike me as unexpected but then it makes sense looking back at the full picture of the results that month, pardon the screenshot from Excel 2003...The top 2 there had a huge lead over 3rd place and then everything from about 8th to about 27th had barely anything in it.For similar reasons by this metric 'Twist The Knife' was actually the #2 song of the year, at #24 of all time!(I'm done now x)
