Popping my head back in here this month with an entry! (it probably will just be this contest for the time being given how Lent falls this year). I've got something I'm happy to put in as an entry eve

It feels good to be back! No idea what the contest looks and feels like now but I've sent my favourite new discovery of the past month or so and hoping I come back with powah POWAH. Good to see not

VETOES

Shiny Toy Guns - Don't Cry Out 22

- entered twice previously, in XXVII (7th) and I (11th). 3+7

- the band have 1 top 100 song in the UK, You Are The One, at #94 in 2007. This track is an album track from their #150 charting album.

- finished 7th in Pop Forum Song Contest VIII in 2021 (sent by Leww), For clarity's sake - 20 of the 23 participants in that edition of PJSC are currently taking part in BJSC. I think this is enough to be deemed as "substantial internet exposure" in the context of this website. 12

Sam Quealy - Londontown 29

- entered twice previously, in CLX (3rd) and CLXXIII (29th). 5+12

- featured on Earmilk.

- appears in 3 personal charts (Kath, Jade, DaTilt) - all BJSC participants.

- charted for 5 weeks on the Multichart (peaking at #65), falling out this week - although clearly it only needed 3 charts to manage this, it's just high on all 3 of those charts, somewhat unfortunate. 12

- thread in Pop Forum has 6 replies (Blacksquare, Jade, Kath, Awardinary, RobBot) - all BJSC participants.

- finished 3rd in "Electronic Track Of The Month: October 2025".

Nice to see such a big turnout this month, glad the late summer/early autumn was just a dip and not the new normal. Bring on the big semis and lots of new stuff to discover!

confirmed a piano/acoustic-led winter song

Sounds like one of my potentials that is probably going for the pulling-at-heartstrings method 🤭 Would feel almost manipulative to send it but maybe I will sometime 🤣

'I voted for it because it made me cry and the singer sounds like Lana Del Rey and Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star' 🤣

I trawled through my archives and found something that has hit me like a ton of bricks so I’m being annoying and changing again

It’s still a certain DNQ but at least it’s one with some thought to it (meaning I’ve put on my Hendinia/POPHub outfit on again)

poor artist who never get to experience the joy of (non-)DNQ

aaaaaaaand just when I thought I was running out of ideas New Music Friday has come in clutch so if I have to reconfirm to another new DNQ I’m prepared
