Wow. It's not often a lead single by an A-list superstar leaves me surprised like this. Kudos to Harry for making another musical swerve here. It sounds like the late 00s in a good way, all the cool

  • 100%, I’m not really particularly bothered about Harry any more than any other big artist I would check out because they’ve released, but I can’t think of any big male artist who would release a 5 min

Spotify update:

#2 UK (446,458) [behind "Man I Need", 486,212]

#2 US (939,801) [behind "End of Beginning", 1,054,516]

#6 Global (3,720,061)

Despite losing the top spot in both the UK and the US, it's still holding on quite well in day 3.

Going to be vulnerable on main... x

Unfortunately I'm not feeling 'Aperture' yet! ☹️ There's aspects of the song that, for now at least, don't fully work for me. I've seen "meandering" as a positive descriptor, but I find the intro and the verses to drag on a bit too long. I find his enunciation to be unclear in the verses - without lyrics in front of me, I didn't really get a sense of what he was singing. I do find the chorus to be the strongest portion of the song, but not to the extent that it's worth the payoff of the 2 minutes it takes to get there.

As a whole, it's certainly a different/unexpected song from Harry. I understand people giving him kudos for that, because he could easily play it safer.

I always feel a bit "🫨" when I don't fully get a song that's being heavily praised, particularly by an artist I really like, it makes me feel a bit on the outside. I'll certainly be giving it more plays and I'm hopeful that it'll click. I'm still excited for the album!

This largely sums up a lot of my initial thoughts on the song. I think I can say I like it now (or perhaps, more accurately, accept it for what it is) but I think it could be so much better if the production lifted into something bigger or the vocals didn't sound like they were recorded in the toilet. The "we belong together hook" is catchy and there's elements of the production that I really like and am interested to see explored further on the album.

recorded in the toilet omg bratcheeseblock I do love the song but this is iconic x

Projected to debut atop in the US. Looks like it's going to a battle between "Aperture", "Man I Need" and "Choosin' Texas" for the top spot.

I am really appreciating the acid house synth bassline in the second half of the song!

Is harry falling in US similar style to the UK, just thinking maybe they will both get a shot,

Harry scores his third UK #1 single as a solo artist with "Aperture".

I’ve been sitting with it through the week… At first I was not impressed at all but it’s grown on me! I do like it, I appreciate trying something new and not just rehashing the same thing again, I do find it drags a bit towards the end and could’ve been trimmed at bit, and I do wish it would have a bit of a build ip as it seems to stay on the same level through out but a solid effort, intrigued to see what the album holds!

If he does it, has Harry ever had simultaneous #1s in the UK and the US?

Yes, As It Was debuted at #1 in both countries

Likewise this is starting to grow on me too, but also feel like it would benefit from being a bit shorter!

"Aperture" was the second-biggest song on Spotify globally between 23rd and 29th January. It did 39,380,028 streams in its first week. That's just over half of the 78,460,903 streams "As It Was" did in its first week.
