Yet another Top 3 week for RAYE with just the two weeks (from all her hits) at #1. I think this returns to its #3 peak without ACR yet again too.

Exactly. It keeps being spoken about as if it's some kind of L for Harry to have not held up, when he made a conscious decision to release a fairly commercially inaccessible track that's 5 minutes lon

Biography

Landing the U.K. underground hit “Palaces” just a few months after his 2024 debut, Merseyside rapper EsDeeKid makes his unique presence in the U.K. scene felt with glowering, weighty vocals and blown-out, bassy productions. Finding a blunt middle ground between jerk and trap, the rapper made his full-length debut with the thunderous 2025 mixtape Rebel. - Apple Music

Biography

A sensitive troubadour for the age of social media, Sombr places equal emphasis on sound and soul-baring lyrics. "Caroline," the viral hit that helped the singer/songwriter escalate from indie status to a major label while he was still in his teens, relied on cinematic vistas and rolling harmonies as much as his dramatic vocals. By the time he released the EP In Another Life in 2023, Sombr was collaborating with Tony Berg -- a producer known for his work with Phoebe Bridgers and Michael Penn -- and opening up his music in ways he continued to explore on the 2024 single "In Your Arms" and his 2025 Top 40 hit "Undressed." After landing another Top 40 hit with "Back to Friends," he made his full-length debut in 2025 with the breakup-themed I Barely Know Her. - Apple Music

It was a rather tight race of the former number ones this week, super close.. but nobody expected Raye and Dave and TEMS to battle it out for number one this week.

Careful, you'll get called sexist for saying that!!

I can't be called sexist for disliking Raindance as I thought Tems was a man until ten days ago.

Thanks for letting me in the show as usual tonight, shall we do it same time next week? Think so.. whatever you do tonight, have a nice night!

(lead into 5:45 Newsbeat bulletin)

New entries and new peaks outside the top 40:

#45 Don Toliver - Body (NEW)

#51 Don Toliver ft. Rema - Secondhand (NEW)

#55 Don Toliver - E85 (NEW)

#63 Bella Kay - iloveitiloveitiloveit (+30)

#70 HUNTR/X - Takedown (NEW)

#72 December 10 - Run My Way (NEW)

#91 Dominic Fike - White Keys (NEW)

#92 Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (NEW)

#96 Marnz Malone ft. Tunde - Chy Cartier's Adlibs (NEW)

Ooh glad to see Takedown chart! Wondering if the label have starred out How It's Done/Soda Pop/Your Idol. They might do the same for What It Sounds Like so that Free can chart.

I’m guessing not. Soda Pop would probably be in a similar position to Chanel and that’s a few positions below Takedown.

However, it would explain the sudden disappearance of How It’s Done, but my gut feeling is that was the OCC.

I don’t think they would be that bothered about songs charting so low down.

Now, a full year on from its' first appearance on the chart, this is the longest runner on the Top 40 this week.

Amazing song still doing amazing things in the song charts, considering the amazing amount of disrespect it receives for the reason it's not a "forum" favourite or bog standard R%B overproduced pop song

Oh my at Mall Grab sneaking a chart show play! Not heard his remix of the Milky track yet and I barely even remember the original song (I'm sure it'll come back to me when I hear it again) but another rather mad libs chart revival there.

Good to see Ella Langley making the top 40 this week anyhoo and I'm not mad at 'WILDFLOWER' re-entering, I would assume it'll drop back out fairly quickly. I was about to comment that Bad Bunny did get reset but wasn't quite enough to go top 40 this week anyway, but just realised it didn't get to 9 weeks in the top 100 the first time around so it didn't actually need a reset to chart anyway - likewise 'NUEVAYoL' already re-entering at #88 too, hopefully both will climb a bit next week and be joined again by 'BAILE INoLVIDABLE' (or something else depending on what songs he does at the Super Bowl).

Yas at The Cure returning to their original peak as well <3 + 'Midnight Sun' cracking the top 20 we love to see, seems to be slowing down a bit now (and 'Stateside' stalling as well) so not sure it will go much further but we'll see x

Noah dropping from #1 in First Look to #10 in the final chart definitely feels like an unusually steep drop - I know there was the Oasis example already mentioned but has there ever been a 'normal' release that dropped that hard? Happy he kept in the top 10 anyway and hope it can hold up better from now on, it is already growing on me.

I don't think it's particularly good as a song and obviously the circumstances behind the song existing are not ideal but it's cool to see a new Bruce Springsteen song in the top 100 nonetheless.

'Just Another Rainbow' by Liam Gallagher & John Squire dropped 1-16 from First Look and was a new release, though that was also powered heavily by physicals. Noah is only #32 in the Sales chart this week, so does appear to be an extreme of falling away fast after opening at First Look #1 due mainly to streams (given it was behind only the ACR'ed 'Man I Need' on its first day on Spotify).

Also it’s a rare >30k #10 coupled with a weak #1, so the drop off isn’t as extreme as it looks.
