1 hour ago1 hr Anyhoo - as Persephonia has fallen on some hard times of late (3 DNQs and a wooden spoon among our last 5 entries ) I have decided to take some drastic measures and just try to emotionally manipulate you all to give me a hit this time xIn all seriousness the music video for my song actually made me cry the first time I watched it. I do think it's a pretty beautiful indie track on its own but it's definitely elevated by the video - inspired by the true story of the world's loneliest whale - so I hope people will watch it (and I especially hope no one decides to withdraw from the contest and take all the attention away when it's playing on SyncTube, not that such a thing would ever happen!). This is sort of a retro entry, the song dates back in live demo form to at least 2005, was one of 6 tracks on a physical-only live EP released then, the other 5 tracks all ended up appearing in completed form on their debut album but this one remained a rarity until finally being recorded and released a few weeks ago ahead of a 20th anniversary edition of the album. It's a rare appearance for Persephonia from an act who are at least mainstream-adjacent (having a few UK top 40 albums) but they've never been sent to any of the song contests before and I just really wanted to share the song and especially the video, I'm sure we will run back to something very obscure again next month xSeems like a favourable enough semi draw, a good handful of songs I already know from my semi and a few from the other semi too making this probably the contest with the most songs I already know for quite some time, I particularly remember really enjoying the Kontravoid song when it appeared on PopJustice before (featuring the singer from Nuovo Testamento ). I still really like that song too, just heard it on the Deandria playlist the other day after ages I spy a Lamb song here, which... I sent Lamb to another song contest on here not long ago ('One') and I love Lamb but I don't remember 'Bulletproof' being a particularly interesting song of theirs but I might not even be remembering very well.
