Bieber and Madonna both apologising in these retro top 10s!

'Sorry' feels like a relatively forgotten Madge chart-topper but it has stood the test of time as a great follow-up to 'Hung Up' for me.

I don't think I'd be inclined to play a single song from the 2021 chart apart from Drivers License. I can't even remember anything about Calling My Phone and that was No.2 😂

All the other charts are pretty good, 2011 brings back good memories of my days living in Wrexham and hearing those songs out, and 2006 happy uni days with that top three which I bought all of on single <3

For how big 7 Years was in 2016, I basically never hear it anywhere now.

I am hoping that George Michael gets a mention on the albums top 5 later.

Faith is a magnificent album.

Will any of the the other top 5 albums chart in 38 years time ??!!

Lana Del Rey

White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter

170x170bb.jpg

3rd single from Stove

Released: 17th February 2026

Label: Polydor Records

Video

Biography

Though she’s got the name and look of a ’60s-era Hollywood star, Lana Del Rey could only have emerged in the internet era. At a time when social media was giving people the power to curate their identities and present idealized versions of themselves online, the struggling singer-songwriter once known as Lizzy Grant (born in New York in 1985) reinvented herself as Lana Del Rey for her epochal 2011 single “Video Games.” The wistful orchestral ballad (and an accompanying Super 8-style video that heralded the ubiquity of soft-focus Instagram filters) introduced an artist who delighted in breaking hearts and the internet alike, knowingly using coquettish sex-kitten cliches as a means to probe male behavior and, by extension, the American id itself. Not only did the song prove it was possible to cultivate genuine mystique in the age of oversharing, but it also carved out a space for languid, Twin Peaks-worthy arty pop amid a Top 40 normally reserved for jacked-up pop anthems. Since then, Lana has always kept listeners guessing. Informed equally by classic-rock mythology and modern hip-hop attitude, she can casually name-drop Lou Reed in a dream-pop serenade (2014’s “Brooklyn Baby”) as effortlessly as she communes with R&B futurist The Weeknd (2017’s “Lust for Life”). More than a mere retro stylist, Lana embraces nostalgic all-American imagery only to corrupt it through subversive—sometimes profane—anti-love songs while elevating pop-cultural detritus into high art: On 2019’s Norman F*****g Rockwell!—an epic masterwork that scales the heights of Elton John’s early-'70s classics—she makes room for a cover of Sublime’s ’90s stoner-funk anthem “Doin’ Time.” In the 2020s, she’s remained effortlessly provocative at every gripping turn—with the sweeping, self-referential yearning of 2021’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club and Blue Banisters and the sprawling, unfiltered intimacy of 2023’s Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, in which she dubbed her candid, stream-of-conscious process “meditative automatic singing.” As she continues to build the mythology of Lana Del Rey, she seems to be slowly, gradually blurring the line between her art and her Self. - Apple Music

Mumford & Sons and Gracie Abrams

Badlands

170x170bb.jpg

Album track from Prizefighter

Released: 20th February 2026

Label: Mumford & Sons

Video

Biography

For a band that started out relying mostly on acoustic instruments and barely any drums, Mumford & Sons fashioned a mighty big sound from the get-go. They could be regarded as folk-rockers, but the band—formed in West London in 2007—harness the kind of passion, power, and inspirational drive usually associated with the likes of U2. Main man Marcus Mumford and his cohorts Winston Marshall, Ted Dwane, and Ben Lovett (all of whom play multiple instruments) began building their following from the ground up in and around London before releasing a string of DIY EPs and finally earning enough attention for Island Records to release their debut album, Sigh No More, in 2009. In an electronic-saturated pop era, that record's blend of back-porch picking and arena-ready presence leaned un-self-consciously in the opposite direction, invoking their native folk traditions as well as those of the U.S. But it was 2012 follow-up Babel that really cemented Mumford & Sons' star status. Its first single, the banjo-charged, passionately swelling "I Will Wait," became an intercontinental smash, and the folk-rock floodgates opened. The band's success cleared a path for kindred unplugged spirits like The Lumineers, but by the time Mumford & Sons released their third LP, 2015's Wider Mind, they'd already evolved into another phase, tamping down the folk and amping up the rock, a process they further refined over the next three years, achieving an even more widescreen sound on Delta. - Apple Music

Biography

With her enchanting howl of a voice and passion for outrageous creative risk, Kate Bush strikes an uncanny balance between artistic experimentation and pop satisfaction. In a career that goes back to the late ’70s, she’s produced hits like “This Woman’s Work,” “Babooshka,” and “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” alongside esoteric song cycles and conceptual works, inspiring artists as diverse as St. Vincent and Big Boi with her wonderfully witchy distillation of literary themes, musical idioms, and studio innovations. Born Catherine Bush in July 1958 in Kent, England, she grew up in a village farmhouse with an ever-supportive Roman Catholic family. Her two older brothers, John and Paddy, were her earliest collaborators; her big break came at age 16 when Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour helped her produce a demo tape and land a record deal. She was a sensation from the start with her Emily Brontë-inspired 1978 debut single, “Wuthering Heights,” summoning raw desire with her piercing soprano and the video's interpretive dance moves. She went on to produce a string of acclaimed albums throughout the ’80s and into the ’90s—including 1985’s masterful Hounds of Love, which veers between synth-pop, piano balladry, Irish folk, and earthy lyricism. Bush has been quieter in more recent years, releasing just three albums in the 2000s and 2010s. But her visionary work helped make way for the post-genre pop of artists like Lorde and Billie Eilish, while her artistic autonomy sets an important standard for the music industry. - Apple Music
