  • Climax will have to be tomorrow now sorry guys! Thinking to do it between 22:00 and 23:00 tomorrow evening. x

  • I’ve also listened to Club Bizarre entries that were ordinary and Unknown Pleasures entries that were neither unknown nor pleasurable. 😅

  • The Eurovision style scoreboard. 2nd and 3rd and 10th and 11th swapped, @Bror up to 20th and @CowTzy no longer at the bottom. Oops at Basement Jaxx taking a tumble - I had noticed they got very consi

We did get a zero pointer in the 2nd edition of the TBSCITW…E which only had 18 entrants, meaning everyone had it in their bottom 7 which was quite impressive. I then very nearly managed it in the 3rd edition, getting just 3 points from Suedehead despite having the coveted last spot on the song list and entering a track by The Eurythmics who you’d think would be a safe choice.

I think it's snappy, vintage and memorable so it will stick! Not sure @dandy* @King Rollo or @Jester would be happy to change it though!

I’m not sure I see a need to change it at all tbh, even though the tone in here has been a little surprising towards it

I agree...I like the way it is, even if it's the longest titled song contest in a forum!!!

Yeah I'm sorry, there's no need of course. I do sometimes feel like I should just keep my mouth shut as much as possible. But then the spiral starts in my head where I'm like: okay, I should express myself, BUT I don't want to hurt or insult people ever, BUT if I don't speak my mind then people think I don't have opinions and am on the fence all the time, BUT I don't have to worry about people's opinions or perceptions so much, BUT other people's perceptions can have important consequences, etc. etc.

Here's hoping I can push towards the top 10! #10 is my peak on Bop Idol

No spoilers but I did think Regina was going to smash the pop vote more.

Story of my life this week.....

Regina Spektor's lack of a major commercial hit is one of life's great mysteries to me. Fidelity at the very least should have been a huge hit and there's no reason it couldn't have been when the likes of Feist and Sara Bareilles went top ten. And Samson is maybe one of the most affecting ballads of the 00s?

Maybe she was too pop for alt tastes and too alt for pop tastes. Lyrically her albums are amazing, she has such a standout voice and a great ear for melody, so the failure to connect doesn't make sense to me.

So interestingly I debated whether to send 'On The Radio' for similar reasons. I could see pop leaning people giving it a couple of points and alt leaning people maybe being tempted to chuck it some points. So nice to see it's gotten over 100 points at least!

But yes, I adore so much of her back catalogue

LCD Soundsystem - Someone Great

James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem wrote this about the death of his therapist, and it deescribes the feelings of emptiness and pointlessness after  losing someone significant. Aside from being a great electronic dance I find it emotionally very powerful. Thanks all for giving it a good showing here.

My votes:

18 Hot Chip - Colours (I absolutely love how this builds and am surprised it hasn’t been doing better)

15 Camera Obscura - Lloyd, I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken

13 Anathallo - Dokkoise House (With Face Covered)

12 Junior Boys - In The Morning

11 The Knife - Silent Shout

10 Puracane - Warzone

9 Beirut - After The Curtain

8 Regina Spektor - On The Radio

7 Freestylers featuring Pendulum - Painkiller

6 Panda Bear - Bros

5 Basement Jaxx - Take Me Back To Your House

4 Cassius - Toop Toop

3 The Cardigans - Don’t Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds)

2 Poets Of The Fall - Carnival Of Rust

1 Islands - Rough Gem

Commiserations to Oxia and many others - so many great choices here!

Snow Patrol - Hands Open

Jim was the one who put forward “D.A.N.C.E.” by Justice. I suspect that could have done very well indeed, but he’s done excellently anyway and could still win!

If you added up all the time I spent at the top of the leaderboard during the reveals of every song contest I've entered on Buzzjack, I probably should have won about 6 of them by now, rather than just the one. Ahead here as late as 25/37 votes revealed, but it now feels like another one that's slipped away drama

Still, as I couldn't send 'D.A.N.C.E.' (#justiceforjustice), I went for one of my top faves that was never a single in the UK. I know Snow Patrol aren't everyone's cup of tea and I still find them somewhat hit and miss on the whole, but I can clearly remember the first time I heard it on the album after a night out, and that one-two punch of 'You're All I Have' and this before 'Chasing Cars' is wonderful.

Thank you for the mostly big scores so far - especially Nine for the gold wub also Juranamo and AllStar for silvers, Mango, Rob and Bré for bronzes, vibe, Viper*, Mattias, Spiceboy and Paddington also in double figures, Lukuzz for 8 and Cow, Lee and Dan for the other 8 collectively. Most of my top scores are further down the scoreboard so there's still time for me to have footshot them into the final top 10 at my expense, but out of the contenders a Camera Obscura win would be a welcome surprise!
