I wanted to send something that makes me happy, but I saved it for another time and sent something more serious instead.

I really hope we can squeeze in one more country for a full house!

I have a few discoveries in mind for our entry, will 100% be a very different type of entry than we’ve ever sent before that’s for sure!

I’ve spent quite a long time looking and decided to give up trying to find something I like. I’m just going to send something that sounds (to my uneducated self on Paraguay’s music scene) like something modern but with traditional influences that I could imagine listening to in a bar or by a pool there

Out of interest though, is there a way of searching for acts from a specific country on Spotify or other sites that I’m not aware of? I’ve just been using google so far

I was actually just gonna say - I just recently discovered the beauty of using rateyourmusic.com for this! If you click on 'charts' (nothing to do with music charts, it just creates a chart for you!) at the top (not sure if you need an account for this, I made one just recently), you can look for music based on things like country, decade / years, genre, whether it's more 'popular' or more 'esoteric' (less well-known) etc. It's really good!

I literally looked up combinations like 'less well-known albums by artists from Colombia from X decade'.

Thanks both, that’s really helpful ☺️

Now my curious ass got curious so I looked up 'esoteric albums of all time from Paraguay' and got 293 results, including some progressive rock, psychedelic pop, psychedelic folk, indie pop, EDM, shoegaze, future funk (never heard that one before!), electropop, etc.

And more death metal of course.

Until I dug a little deeper and it's just a parody of Kylie Jenner.
