I wanna see either Madonna’s, Julie Covington’s or both versions of Don’t Cry For Me Argentina get revivals if Spain win on Sunday

Julie Covington's version is sublime. Madonna's version is adequate at best.

I’m surprised it’s Julie Covington’s version that got number 1 and not Madonna’s

Madonna's version lost all the emotion of Julie Covington's excellent version.

They played it in 2018 when it was #1 after England's semi final elimination, and in 2021 and 2024 when it was Top 10 following England's Euro final defeats. So I'm sure it will be played.

Personally it will feel more hollow to hear it tomorrow than on any of those occasions given the team's propensity to keep making the same mistakes when in good positions, but that's for a different forum.

Proud of the team, it was disappointing having put ourselves in the position to make the final, but it’s not been a bad 8 years and it’s not easy to win a tournament; very few countries have done it! Going to take those songs being so high as a celebration of that rather than awkward

You are being way too kind towards Madonna's version.

At least they’ll be some chart movement for a week at least with Wonderwall, Three Lions - possible reset for Vindaloo, and Total Eclipse Of The Heart.

I think Total Eclipse was already reset in the mids so it's likely we won't see that in the top 40 sadly

RMI will be number 1 tomorrow because thats what people are listening to, it's still in my top 5 that I listen too each day because like an awful lot of people, I really like it and personally I love what it is achieving stats wise.

There is 100 songs in the chart to talk about each week and to denigrate a song because it has remained in a position for too long for your liking when there is 99 others to talk about that are moving up or down or stationary seems rather churlish.

There is a slight difference between the #1 and the rest of the positions in the chart though lol
