This is giving me vibes of that time a poster on here said that people were talking about "Ordinary" down the pub. 😂

  • almost as if one of these songs has a beat made for dancing to and the other is a mid tempo ballad

  • Ooh... Burna Boy being the new Wyclef Jean and helping Shakira to get a UK No 1!! 🤣😉 I really hope Choosin Texas doesn't make #1. Remember when it spent weeks at #35 or something? Shoulda stayed ther

They say it’s meant to be a sing-a-long song at least

People have been having a sing-along to it while playing it on Spotify for the past 59 weeks gaycat

I been butchering songs like

i will always love you, someone like you and shallow on karaoke for decades but never thought to dance to them , does that not make them memorable ?

So this week either Shakira gets her first #1 in almost 20 years or 'Rein Me In' establishes a new record (blatantly the latter), and Lady Gaga gets a single spending an entire year in the top 40!

I did think Charli would be #1 in the albums, but expected Little Miss Twain would be giving her a closer run for her money!

I was in a bar on Saturday and the DJ played Rein Me In but no one was dancing but then the DJ played Dai Dai straight after and a fair amount of people got up and started dancing

I’ve seen some hilarious things written on buzzjack but this has just made me laugh so much 😂😂😂😂

Wow Shania isn’t doing very well, was expecting her to be at least #2 with over 10k in first look! 👀

I kinda expected Charli to be on more in terms of her physical sales I thought she’d be on around double what she is now (purely just because BRAT was huge and I felt like her fanbase / presence grew a lot) I was expecting similar figures to what RAYE did earlier on in the year.

I know we also had the Great Expectations album too but this is kinda the direct follow up to BRAT and soundtracks are very hit and miss on how they do even with huge stars.

Cool to see ADÉLA already in the top 100 prior to her Spotify appearance today!

Has a Slovak artist charted before?

I thought Frank Zappa had some Czech or Slovak connections, but turns out he was only an ambassador for Czechoslovakia and was born in the US. Hadn't realised he had a charting single before though - 'Cheap Thrills' made #83 posthumously in 1998!

If you are about to break the record for the longest running No.1 ever, and at the midweek stage you are only about 100 copies adrift of your only challenger (with Ariana on the horizon next week so it could be your last chance), I don't think you are going to let that opportunity go.

It will be very easy for Sam's label to find some physicals, send out begging emails to fans or release the Capaldi duet version.

I just can't see Shakira or her team actively doing anything to make this into a proper battle, so I think Rein Me In has it.

'Dai Dai' must be further ahead on iTunes than I thought - with that sending data a day ahead of most of the streaming services, I can see how the gap has narrowed.

The official fan page and discord has already started - they’ve made a graphic that Sam is about to break the record and encouraging the best way to support is iTunes or Amazon downloads.

Shakira reduced on iTunes earlier today to 59p - unusual for a charity song but totally understand why!.

I played a couple of tracks. Skipped them after a few seconds.

Tbf the single has done nothing for me so I haven’t even checked it out and Come on over is my favourite album ever!

Or on Amazon - though I haven’t checked that chart. Assuming an extra day of Apple, Spotify and YouTube (and Amazon) have been added since yesterday, only a change of fortunes would get Shakira to number 1.

Just checked previous Monday midweeks for Godli

15,174 Music, Fashion, Film [12,009 physicals]

9,651 Wuthering Heights 9,651 [6,763 physicals]

15.8k BRAT remix reissue

16,219 BRAT

9,791 CRASH [8,036 physical] *

Charli’s doing well all things considered. ‘Rock Music’ didn’t go down well and the album’s concise indietronica indie rock style has alienated her new fans a bit.

The B-sides edition released late yesterday should add a decent amount of downloads to its tally

Ordinary is probably more likely to be danced to…

at a wedding

Time for Sam's label to make this remix official, get revellers dancing, and bag another 10 weeks at No.1.
