I have no idea, but leaving the member anonymous of course, I wouldn't generally associate them with sending cheap entries! So no need to even anonymously shame them, just perhaps a bit of care needed looking at the history of their entries/artists on this occasion but I don't think it's a pattern outside of this week.

I’m not gonna get into stuff like this because, as Freeze pointed out in the past, sometimes for people who don’t pay attention to the charts or aren’t from the UK might not be aware of an artists success and I don’t want to get into a shaming kinda game.

There's literally hundreds of millions of songs available to enter - why is it so hard to find one that doesn't rack up the veto points?

That's a fair point. I have put stuff into Spolfest that I didn't know was very well known. I was just going by the chart peak.

They can’t all fit into the NMF playlist though :(

If someone is/has confirmed from NMF today after the window closed it does seem a little unfair to those who confirmed on time and wouldn't have been allowed to pick from those unreleased tracks at the time. Just a thought.

There's a new rule that we can't submit anything released after the official deadline.

I think part of it might be just that many people in general (not talking about on here specifically) don't dig that deep (or wide) into music. That's not a criticism, I just notice it and, not to make it all about me lmao but I'm probably the opposite, I don't even look at or follow the NMF playlist (although I do follow pretty much every artist I like/listen to on Spotify, and get notifications about their new releases), many of my discoveries are by exploring artists' discographies. I also often check out the 'similar artists' (either on Spotify or last.fm) of an artist I already like, which is a good tip! Sometimes I even go through pages and pages of 'similar artists' and see what sticks out to me.

Then there's also random songs I just happen to fall on lol

Songs with zero veto points are more likely to flop is my thought. Many people check the same sources so it helps to have some sort of demand or recognisability factor for a track for it to do well. Be that previous BJSC success, an acclaimed song or artist in pop or alt circles, every little helps. Rarely is it a song that is unknown to every single poster apart from the sender and Uhsting could ever win (and those are probably a lot of the songs that get zero veto points).

I wasn't suggesting that we should all find songs with zero veto points. I would say many of mine would have racked up a few.

I keep flopping when I send shorter songs so it's 14 minute songs every month from now on I fear x
