Seriously though, impressive runs for all of those 6 nations! I'd be too scared to enter if I had a streak that long.

For how many of those 23 straight qualifiers was Cor Lupus a 'surefire DNQ' then?

Along with being incredible at predicting what others will like and having a music taste that broadly aligns with the contest at large, to get a streak that long you also need to adapt to changing trends, especially after 7 years of qualification. I've noticed Hendinia in the last year or so sending entries that are not just straight pop but that have slightly more alt and electronic appeal too.

Imo nobody can rely on just one voting bloc for consistent success, especially with the way the semis end up split sometimes. What if you send straight pop and only get a handful of other pop countries in your semi? You need at least some degree of crossover appeal there.

Also, I never really see many of the countries with 20+ qualifying in like 19th or 20th spot in the semi, so it's not like they are scraping in by the skin of their teeth. I suspect all of them have had a few lucky scrapes but you need a bit of luck on your side along with everything else mentioned above to build streaks that long.

It is fun to try to build streaks that long, and obviously super impressive, although in my experience the longer my streaks went on the more risk averse I became, and I'd end up with a run of very middling results with few real contenders for a while. So there are also pros to not getting through every time, it definitely does act as a reset. Not sure I'd have sent Mushroom One during a very long streak.

I really want to join the 30 plus streak club now but yeah admittedly I have been going more alt recently too partly as much of the dance I’ve been into is not what’s hitting at the moment (see the two dance entries I did send this year both missing top 30…)

I want to join the 4 plus streak club.

Realistically I won't climb any higher as long as Dandy* doesn't mess up.

When was the last time a huge streak came to an end?

Greenfroze had a streak of 21 until earlier this year, and Kathaldazia a similar one until last year. Think it's been at least 2 years since the last streaks broke that were longer than any of those above - I think Cumulonimbia and Cor Lupus were both on 30+.

I know this seems hard to believe but, particularly this year, genuinely all of my entries (bar Outside, I think but it wouldn’t be far off?) are my in my top 40 most played of 2026 and I’m not just sending what I think will be hits 😂

There’s been times in the last 7 years that I’ve played it safe out of not wanting to lose it (I’m thinking stuff like Cazzi Opeia, Yaeger the second time, CATTY) but those entries generally only scraped through semis so I’ve quickly learnt that trying to play it super safe actually just makes the entries a bit less exciting. So my entries are probably more in tune with what I genuinely love than ever right now, because I know the run will probably run out soon so I may aswell bow out sending stuff I can stand by wholeheartedly.

I don’t believe I’ve ever managed a streak longer than the teens so I can’t see me holding on for much longer…

I’m currently just hoping that I stumble across something I even want to consider sending next contest, although I think that’s been the case for about the past year so who knows. I do feel very out of touch with how to discover new music these days, most of the things I find are by acts already known to most.

I'm in the same boat in some respects.

I see my streak as something I both want to safely keep and build, but also semi-resent, and kind of look forward to it eventually resetting so I can go full Scotland 2 and send what I want.

I won’t pretend I’m sending the epitome of my taste every time. It’s a strange push and pull each month and I can’t really settle on how I feel about it. Some months I genuinely send what I love, ask anyone who’s crossed paths with me lately, chances are they’ve caught me singing along to Molly in the Club like I’m alone in an aquarium. Other months it results in me sending something like Tiffany Day, which is almost instant regret, purely to keep the streak going
