So sorry for the lateness. Been a few unusual days here in Norway, so sending in my votes slipped my mind. Here are my votes in case you still accept them.

01p | Alanis Morissette - That I Would Be Good

02p | Kate Bush - Ken

03p | Đorđe Balašević - Ne lomite mi bagrenje

04p | Natalie Merchant - Wonder

05p | Iris DeMent - Let The Mystery Be

06p | Laura Nyro - Captain For Dark Mornings

07p | Buffy Saine-Marie - The Big Ones Get Away

08p | Sibylle Baier - I Lost Something in the Hills

10p | Jewel - Foolish Games

12p | Dolly Parton - Coat of Many Colours

NocheLuna submitted a late vote earlier today and it took everything in my sense of fairness to accept them given the late votes push Dolly comfortably ahead of Melanie haha - however as I was the main one negatively affected it seemed better to have the correct final result. Although realistically third was FAR better than I'd have ever guessed at the beginning of this contest and it's nice to see a new entrant get a silver medal on their first go.

Fortunately there was no change to who bagged that final top 10 spot, plus they also gave Iris DeMent enough points to take everyone over 20 points <3

I'll post a separate table in a moment with the ties all separated etc!

Congrats @jimwatts a great song to have won, but also a great top 3, all of which I gave points to. I must admit I thought my Aimee Mann entry would do a little better but I scraped a top half finish so I'll take that! Excellent presenting @dandy*!

Oh he’s going to be INSUFFERABLE now kink

This has been such a joyous contest for me

Great theme, sooooo many good entries, where I literally panicked after the first couple of listens wondering how I'd figure out what to vote for. But should have known with this genre that the songs can take a few listens to sink in!

Great winner and so glad I voted for the top 3

Again, thanks to anyone who showed Alanis some love. Thrilled with 5th. Another spin off success :)

FINAL RESULT

Screenshot 2026-08-30 at 23.31.49.png

Congratulations again to @jimwatts on your first victory in the contest, but it has definitely been coming after your recent results! I couldn't really say anything earlier but I totally called it as the winner from the first time I saw the final entry list, it just seemed like it would stick out really well in terms of style and sound. Also 23 voters out of 30 is such a good amount when you consider people can only vote for their favourite ten tracks!

On the whole I'm really happy with how everything played out, I think we ended up with a good balance of discoveries doing well along with those more familiar songs - well done everyone! Hopefully nobody is too disappointed with how they did, and hopefully those of you who did finish in the top half are happy with how you performed ☺️

Thank you everyone for taking part, really appreciated it. I did worry the theme would just facilitate a playlist of acoustic songs that could all merge into each other so I was really happy that we ended up with a list that had some real diversity in it. And whilst I know the theme won't have been for everyone, I've been really chuffed to see a fair few of you say it was your favourite contest to date in this series <3

...and on that note, I'm done! That was chaotic again but hopefully everyone enjoyed it - night all!

Huge congrats to Jim, a deserved and dominating winner. I must check out the Jennifer Warnes version now.

Obviously it's very poignant to see Dolly in second too, congrats Spiceboy. I hope to see you in other site contests, loved your enthusiasm 🤩

Melanie was wonderful, I didn't expect it to do this well, amazing to see my two favourites in the top three, well done on another hit Dandy.

17th is decent for honestly a song I wouldn't have sent if I'd remembered or somebody else had spotted and reminded me that it was in a BJSC 80s spin-off; that certainly wasn't intentional, love the song as I do. I was just trying to send something that wasn't an obvious option for this contest and it's good to miss the bottom ten at least after how far it dropped at one point.

So it was NocheLuna behind my silver medal *.* I initially read that artist name as Dorothy Provine who is an entirely different retro entertainer! Thanks for a wonderful discovery and the 6 points for Laura <3 your entry deserved far better than placing outside of the top 20 </3

Congratulations Jim for an emphatic victory with Leonard Cohen! 🤩 I contributed 4 points to your total so certainly approve of that winner.

I'm chuffed with 7th place for Laura Nyro too ❤️ I was really hoping to return to the top 10 this time after a 5 contest drought and am especially pleased to have achieved this with a sixties song. In fact, it's a great result that both the '60s entries made the top 10 - even top 5 in Scott Walker's case. 👏 thanks for all the love.

I'm also happy to have finished right next to my fave from Sibylle Baier in the top 10. I'll definitely be checking out that accompanying album at some point!

It's a shame PJ Harvey didn't make the top 20 in addition to the aforementioned Dory Previn, both were in my top 5.

Thank you Dandy for a brilliant hosting job! I thoroughly enjoyed this theme choice and will be taking away many strong discoveries.

Once again, congrats to Jim. I think I might have heard the song before but wasn't very familiar with it and well done Spiceboy finishing 2nd on your debut.

The points dried up for my song so I'll have to settle for 19th place, thanks to all who gave 'I Want You' some points.

Thanks Dandy for the slick and artful results presentation.

Time for my semi-regular reminder that tiebreaks are done by number of votes first so I'll take my 8th place please x kink

(I was going to post that before you posted the scoreboard but I figured it'd be too late if you'd already prepared it the other way anyway hehe)

OK in all seriousness... fair play to @dandy*! I've said it before that you are one of the fairest people on here (mirror mirror), and to accept the votes over the deadline more than proves that - because I wouldn't have done, I'd have thrown them in the bin!!! 🤭

Dolly says thank you for allowing me to take second place!

thank-you-thanks.gif

Huge well done to @jimwatts, I also really enjoyed the song and had never heard it before a very worthy winner! ❤️ I had thought Gabrielle would be a sure fire winner for this (loving it myself) so somewhat surprised by the results but it is a great collection (other than that awwwwful Melanie song, dear god 🤭).

Thanks for hosting dandy* this was super fun, and you were an excellent host (takes notes).

Think he’s already labelled you 8th though in the 9th row!

Thanks dandy* and congrats Jim. A really enjoyable edition.

Urgh! I really thought that was solely in BJSC?

Although to be fair Julian has pointed out that my numbering has gone awry with separating them anyway so I don't mind updating it for that reason alone!

I mean technically it's not actually written down anywhere so I just take it upon myself to enforce people being consistent across the site hitler BJSC semi-finals are actually the only place that the 12s tiebreak is officially used.

(but in all seriousness, certainly in this contest's archive that's always been the tiebreak used, although I forget how many of those were also because of me correcting the hosts hehe)

Congrats again to the winner and Dolly managing to get Top 2 in the end <3.

@dandy* amazing theme and great job with the results tonight clap. Also congrats on your Top 3 and for extending the lead on overall board kink.

This is the second contest in a row where I am absent from the Top 10, but this is definitely improvement from last contest #22---#12 <3...moving in the right direction!!!

Thanks again for all the votes <3.
