at least 1% Wholune was because the song was a BUMP OF CHICKEN cover

It actually was (kind of) triple confirmed as it was going to be Rob's entry as well although he was late to confirming so didn't technically submit it.

I thought when I saw it it was a rare somewhat inspired Cor Lupus entry but apparently not since it seems everyone from the usual hivemind (and a couple of others) also wanted it. Cody lucky that neither you or Rich did actually try it x

inb4 it's somehow going to be a guaranteed DNQ anyway

Was expecting to be last in the semi so that’s a surprise… I’ll still be amazed to qualify this time but the draw could definitely have been worse

I considered moving your entry after the random draw, but in my estimation, 11 minutes isn't an overly long song and so there wasn't any need to manipulate the draw order to move it to the end. 15 minutes or longer I would have.

Several people listen out of order and I at least always go back to the ones I like after listening through once or twice to finalise positions, I don't know how much it means, as songs qualify from every position.

I was in half a mind to confirm it but knew I was late into the thread and assumed DaTilt or Addy got it first after seeing it in their charts and didn't want to add to their veto points so decided not to attempt it and just get an immediate PM back anyway that it was taken. So yes, it could have had five (that we know of)!

It is a potential winner along with Ane Brun (with the large caveat I haven't heard anything else yet), so I hope we are spared of the DNQ woes this month. It's a smash, well done!

'Stem / Long Stem' is fabulous, the highlight of that DJ Shadow album for me. Wasia Project I voted for in the recent PTOTW poll, not sure if I know any others in my semi yet.

In the other semi, cool to see Chanpan as expected (the song was my initial entry to Nuggets but was rejected), and a BJSC debut for Calva Louise (who gave me my best Unknown Pleasures finish of 4th in 2024).

I would say placing in the draw doesn't matter too much. Imo it's worse to have something either very sonically similar or something that otherwise causes mega hype or controversy (good or bad) right next to yours as an overshadowing effect can take place.

I don't think 11 minute is really that long (that's just about the whole KATSEYE EP )

Elëdan had a 16 minute entry when I hosted, and I kept their #15 slot in SF and #3 in the finals!!!

I think anything over 20 minutes perhaps should be placed at the end, even though knowing me I would kept Dobago's last month entry at the random order as well lol.

Oh and if Flj (or a similar 8-12 minute song) had been like 2nd or 30th or something I probably would have swapped them round, that otherwise makes that overshadowing effect pretty bad for the poor song that gets drawn in 31st (or makes it standout more, idk). As it is, right in the middle of the semi it shouldn't affect the songs around it much.
