Official Charts Report

Summer smash Movin’ To The Sun by HUGEL, Imael Angel and Ultra Naté has taken the lead at Number 1 on this week’s Official Chart: First Look, and is set to face off with SIENNA SPIRO’s reigning chart-topper Great Expectation (2).

Also moving up inside the Top 10 after 48 hours, STELLA LEFTY’s Boston is up one (3), Dua Lipa’s recently-viral Training Season lifts two (5) and SIENNA SPIRO sees a second track in the First Look Top 10 with Die On This Hill (9).

Californian singer-songwriter Alyssa Grace could see bloodstream lift two places to a new peak of Number 12.

Ella Langley’s Be Her could also claim a new peak come Friday as it jumps six places after 48 hours (27)

Cloonee & Prospa could earn their second collaborative Top 40 single with Good Girl ft. Tristan Henry, currently up 10 places at Number 37.

Finally, German DJ and producer Kolter rises 16 places on the First Look with Hey Everybody (Back In The Dance). If the track holds on it’ll mark Kolter’s first Top 40 single in the UK.

The Official Chart: First Look offers a first glance of the Top 40 ahead of Friday’s Official Singles Chart Top 100. The chart is based on preliminary sales and early streaming reports.

And a thank you from me for everyone who joined in for the first new First Look show! Mostly enjoyed it and think they're onto something with the bonus features but it needs a little refining. Nice having Lauren back, I really enjoy her as a host!

I think the extended First Look would/will be a lot more interesting when we get back to some normality in the charts with new music etc., - at the moment it’s almost a like for like of how Fridays chart will look.

I thought Nicole Kidman track would be top 40. I doubt either of those 2 new entries will hold. Should TLC be getting a reset too?

Don't go chasing waterfalls 🗣️

SIENNA is coming for two weeks!!

Happy to see her stay for a good 5/6 weeks to be honest.

I didn't listen and after seeing the comments I am not very excited about future episodes but they can feck right off with only playing the 'Radio 1-approved' acts on that homegrown album thing and repeating songs that they've already played instead, especially with Olivia Dean sounding like she's from about 1966 anyway!

Three or four mins of a 'Radio 2 act' or even a Radio X one with a big fanbase but no Beeb airplay on a Sunday teatime isn't going to kill anyone or put the total station in terminal meltdown, especially considering they'd be fine with a lot of the heritage act album chart songs if they were by younger people!

Oh well, at least they played that Kasabian one by all accounts, will be interesting to see what they do when it's a pre-2000 act who are even too old for R1 Anthems.

Feels like they're only giving Dolly so much chart show airtime because country-pop is huge right now.

I mean, what happens when a new Rod Stewart album/compilation gets to the top spot for instance etc?

They should give them their few mins of glory whoever it is, lots of non-R1 acts get to #1 in the albums!

Just think, we could have had solo Paul Heaton on Radio 1 a few weeks back if this show had started in the summer.

The Radio 1-approved acts of today who aren't already on R2 are the Radio 2 acts of tomorrow!

And having said all that, Radio 1 have just played Joni Mitchell, J.J. Cale and The Beatles in the past 30 mins, presumably as part of Lizzy McAlpine's Chill Mix, late on a Sunday night admittedly!

So good to know they are still much more open to this sort of thing on specialist shows, even though Phil Taggart claimed he was sacked for playing Joy Division too much.

I recently heard Benji B do a 2-hour 'give Prince his flowers' special to be fair and it was full of purple deep cuts.

And Dan P. Carter was allowed to do a 2-hour Cure special in 2024!

Not actually listening as busy Spotifying, just lurking on here: https://onlineradiobox.com/uk/bbcradio1/playlist/
