I'm going to assume neither of you are familiar with Bladee x (I guess some of his music could be considered hyperpop adjacent but he's definitely primarily a hip-hop artist).

We don't mind a bit of diversity anyway jump these acts are still at least closer to the poppier end of their respective genres, it's not like we have people sending black metal bands or Aphex Twin x

(although now I've said that... Aphex Twin in season 4 when)

Zara must be last up, no way she isn't in.

I wonder if Adele is one ballad too many to pick a good mix from.

Cold Shoulder, Rumour Has It, Water Under The Bridge might all get a run.

Actually there's a decent remix of Cold Shoulder and even Set Fire To The Rain if I remember correctly.

I NEED Hometown Glory (High Contrast Remix) to come and slay cheeseblock

Imagine if we get a ‘remix’ round.

Out of interest what happens if whoever has Calvin Harris uses 'Promises' with Sam Smith in.

Does that negate whoever has Sam Smith from using it again?

And I guess that applies to 'By Your Side' as well with Grennan

Other question is whether Calvin could use an Ellie Goulding collaboration that appeared in Series 1. I’m guessing that would have to be OK as there isn’t a library of Pop Factor songs so it would get too difficult to track over the years.

And can Calvin use non-European features - Justin Timberlake, Rihanna...

Or use people with artist forums - Dua Lipa

Yes, it would negate Sam from using it.

This is an interesting one though, but it would have to be a blanket rule across all acts, which would therefore stop Dido sending Stan, Sam Smith sending Dancing With A Stranger etc.

Because if you’re gonna allow a DJ in, I don’t suppose you can penalise them to a standard that doesn’t apply to all.

Excited to see what songs have been selected - especially for Jessie, Marina, Damien, Adele, Leona

Welp, I missed registration again as I was on holiday but I will be watching and voting once more!

Yet to post initials thoughts on all so here goes:

Adele - a big-hitter with a wealth of strong singles and album tracks. Can see her doing well of course.

Agnes - some outright bangers in her back pocket. Intrigued to see if they show up.

Dido - she's the Delta of this season for me in the sense I know her several big hits but everything else will be a discovery. Will scream if Thank You and Stan are played back-to-back. lol

Jessie Ware - not familiar with her music outside of Wildest Moments and Imagine It Was Us. Will be another discovery.

Kate Bush - oops only know her two classics. I fear she may be a threat! ph34r

Leona Lewis - if the right songs are selected, she could be a contender for the crown. And what a way to mark 20 years since winning XF with potentially winning PF!

Marina - another who has the songs to win in theory but is admittedly hit-and-miss. That said, I can already think of 3 or 4 'winning song' worthy bangers from her.

Milica - I don't know her.

Robyn - it was only a matter of time before she showed up. lol Again, already can think of 3 songs from her that will inflict bloodbathery upon us lmao.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - two behemoths aside, her discography is packed with BJ-stanning bops and her recent revival should serve her well.

Tove Lo - I feel like I should know more about her other than the woman who wrote JADE's Lip Service lol - looking forward to discovering her!

Zara - ngl I never took full notice of her until a year ago but whew! she has some HITS.

Bananarama - I only really know the big ones so another discovery on the way. Great to have at least one girl group represented - I think that alone should work to their advantage tbh!

Dead or Alive - obvs only know You Spin Me Round which I love so that's promising.

Depeche Mode - only know Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence and Just Can't Get Enough - looking forward to hearing more from them!

Fontaines DC - I know the name but can't think of any song from them... thinking

I am who I am - iconic spam name.

M83 - not familiar with them.

New Order - the one song I know from them I absolutely stan. wub

Sade - know of them but can't think of a song.

Texas - my mum used to play their CD a lot so am sure there's at least 12 songs I vaguely know from them. lol Great band!

Ultravox - only know of Vienna and even that I can't remember. Inspired pick!

Vengaboys - these will bring the fun and I can't wait!

Years & Years - some bops in their pocket, hopefully they get played. D

Bladee - I don't know her.

Calvin - interested to see how his cards are played - or more accurately which cards are played. I actually love some of his earlier solo stuff before the big collaborations so hoping they get some attention. wub

Damien Rice - outside of Cannonball and The Blower's Daughter, I don't know her either.

Darin - eye candy but yet to know if he's ear candy.

Gary Numan - love a golden oldie showing up - that said not familiar with his work.

HRVY - not familiar with his music but know the name.

Lewis Capaldi - probably a marmite selection here but he has some great songs.

Mackenzie Mackay - future discovery

Roosevelt - future discovery

Sam Fender - really enjoyed his most recent album and yet to delve into his earlier stuff. I think he could do well!

Sam Smith - I always wondered how they'd be able to take part in a contest with this format but good to see them in regardless. So many big hits and varied sounds. They've got the collabs, the ballads, the bops, the flops. Threat alert!! ph34r

Tom Grennan - that image of him!! gaycatI don't actually know much of his music beyond that Ella collab from like 4 years ago, his Angel Of My Dreams cover (if there's a covers week - hello!) and Gillette (if there's an ads week - hello!)

Seeing all the names listed down there, it’s really hard to see beyond Robyn winning this, as she has two songs that I think would beat any other artist on this list at the end.

It’s not always that simple though and all it takes is one slip up. I definitely don’t think it’s as OBVIOUSLY likely as ABBA felt from the get go.

I wonder if we’re thinking of the same two Robyn songs.

Saying that I don’t think it’s that clear cut for Robyn. There’s a few female acts that would have a pretty strong 1-2 punch. The trick is going to be surviving the rounds before the Live Shows and then getting through to the Final.

Song choices will be even more crucial than before. Saying that though all they’d need to do is avoid the bottom or bottom two.

It’s going to be fascinating that’s for sure.

That's true: Sophie, Marina, Adele, Leona - perhaps even Agnes. cheeseblock
