I think I’m actually worried for my 1st choice (which I didn’t get), so maybe a blessing in disguise?!

Oh and just FYI, to follow up on what Rich mentioned last night... can confirm there absolutely aren't any impostors this season. But song choice - even without themes - may absolutely be very important at some point (prior warning will be given) 👀

THE ROOM AUDITIONS IN ROTTERDAM

Or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome...

Probably, maybe they'd 'only' have done as well as Bowie did, but they have so many different routes you could go down with them and so many classics that I think they'd do a little better.

Will Zara get the indie crowd vote as much as Robyn though late on? Look how many synth and alternative leaning acts have been entered, especially in groups - once those acts inevitably depart before half or more of the solo females then its the likes of Robyn and Kate Bush that will pick up those voters' points over Zara imo.

Yeah you do make a good point about Robyn v Zara but I'm still not totally convinced. I think it will very much come down to the song choices, but we shall see. Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out anyway!

All this discussion of which of the ladies will win ignoring the elephant in the room of the forthcoming Bladee landslidee x

Looool I was thinking the same thing!

Fun fact... The Beautiful South were one of my big contenders to submit!

i am hoping the votes are mostly anonymous like last year! Added to the drama and fun of the results :)

Would there ever be a world in BuzzJack where we see a future event called "The Rock Factor" or "The Dance Factor" to cater to different genres but using the same principles as Pop?

Granted, it might attract less participants, but it could be fun to try.

for dance the format may have to change as there are far more males in the genre than groups and females

likewise rock would have vastly more groups than soloists

I do think it would be good to do a round of this that is properly open to all genres (moreso than it is now where one or two people per season sneak an artist that isn't really pop through anyway x). Am sure it'd still be mostly pop artists anyway but there'd be plenty of artists I'd be interested in using who would definitely not be pop at all.

(I guess that was already a thing with that AF Idol spinoff)

Hen you're very lucky I've not vetoed any of the more alt-leaning acts in any of the three seasons sarah xx

(in all seriousness though for as long as I personally host this, The Pop Factor, in the Pop forum, there probably won't ever be a free-for-all with genres kink)

I try to be as lenient as possible but in the grand scheme of things if there were other iterations of this, for example The Rock Factor, I highly doubt I'd be allowed to participate with a pop twink.

I wasn't suggesting it still being hosted by you / in the pop forum xx

That sounds like you volunteering to host it tbh D

I don’t think an alt version would rise to the heights of Calum’s original idea or amusing flourishes that he includes… but if Calum would prefer more alternative acts not to appear here and therefore it isn’t treading on his toes; then it does feel like a spin off version could work as an idea worth discussion in future

For what it's worth I don't think any of the artists entered across the 3 seasons so far are that bad that they don't have a place. Still very much pop at the core with a few that do appeal to other crowds and tastes (as well as some good discoveries for the pop loyals). Will continue to put up with Bra pushing it sarah

Haha!

I think the main thing for me is that any talk around other versions doesn’t detract from how you’d want to run these in future. Plus more isn’t always more.
