Hello, everyone!😁 My favorite color is green, and I have decided to dedicate this contest to that color!

The first thing I’m going to do, is show you what I’ve been reading lately:






In the introduction, Pastoureau writes:

“Green seems to be an ambivalent, if not an ambiguous, color: a symbol life, luck, and hope on the one hand, an attribute of disorder, poison, the devil and all his creatures on the other. In the following chapters I have attempted to recount the long social, cultural, and symbolic history of green in European societies, from Greek antiquity to the present. Long difficult to produce and even more difficult to fix, green is not only the color of vegetation, it is also and most importantly the color of destiny. Chemically unstable, as much in painting as in dyeing, through the centuries it has been associated with all that was changing, changeable, and fleeting: childhood, love, hope, luck, play, chance, money. It was only in the Romantic period that it definitely became the color of nature and thus of freedom, health, hygiene, sports, and ecology. Its history in the West is, in part, one of a reversal of values. Long unnoticed, disliked, or rejected, now it is entrusted with the impossible mission of saving the planet.”


Yes, I know, green is incredibly amazing. I’ll be sharing some more of my findings with you as I go along.

And then I'm going to show you a room in my apartment where I have lots of green stuff. It's my personal Green Room and as of this contest: our official Green Room!




This is a small hallway. To the right is a door that I have blocked with a mirror and a black noise reduction panel/wall. It leads to the owners of the big house where I'm renting this apartment. To the left is a door to the bathroom and the door in front leads to my bedroom. Anyways, let's take a look at the various green stuff:



From the top: a painting by a Norwegian artist called Marielle. She's an art student, and this was her very first sale, by the way. The green painting below hers is called "Pidgeons" by the Norwegian artist Per Krohg from 1914.



The magpie is my favorite bird, and this is a lovely magpie with green feathers. I don't know the artist's name.



A gorgeous reproduction of an artwork by the Norwegian artist Elling Reitan. I don't know the title.



I don't know who, what, when or why, but I like it!



Various green items and a Celebi-painting gifted to me by my cousin Lilly.



Signed artwork in green frame by the artist Seb Mckinnon. It's titled "Entomb".

BONUS INSTRUCTIONS:

Inspired in part by the previous host, what I would love for you to do is to DM me a picture of something that you own that is green and share the context/story behind it. It can be as short/long as you want and as mundane/epic as you like. The picture too can be as simple or creative as you like😊 Maybe a piece of clothing, a laser sword or just a bar of soap you bought randomly, that’s fine. As long as it’s yours and it’s green. If you don’t have anything green, because you obviously live in an asylum, take a picture of some grass or a tree outside and send me that. I will find a use for those pictures later in the contest😊Feel free to send them to me anytime from now and until you send me your semi final votes. I’ll remind you again in the voting thread.


One more thing: Expressing love for green is encouraged!

 

(UN) OFFICIAL RULES:

At some point during this competition…

1.     If you don’t say that you like green, you’ll receive 20% less presents for your birthdays and for Christmas and be 30% less happy at any future celebratory occasion.

2.     If you claim to be indifferent to green, you’ll get a 10 % deduction on your score.

3.     If you say that you dislike green, your dreams will never come to fruition.

4.     If you say that you hate green, you’ll receive a one-year ban and end up in hell.

Green is literally the best colour so I don't have to fear any of those consequences, coming from someone with green hair for a good portion of this year. 💚

You know, I've been loving green for at least 20 years now and have been actively showing off my love for it (a huge portion of my wardrobe is green, and most of the stuff I buy is green), and I used to have green hair for a long time too. Here's a picture of me I recently found from... ah, I don't remember, but it's at least 15 years ago now, I think. I miss that hair sometimes:

I'm not sure what to send yet. I still have a plethora of potentials. Now that I'm an autoqualifier, I can send something even riskier, wohooo! Just need to make sure I love my entry as well and don't send something for the heck of it😋

Last time I autoqualified, I think I ended up in last place, and I don't want to do that again. I'd like a decent EOY/YTD finish too :)
