Shayne had sold 350,000 the first day and a total of 1,200,000 the fourth higest selling single). Leona was the fastest selling female. To be honest as much as I loved Rhydian´s voice, (I really did), I did not find the magic this year.

Shayne didn't sell that in one day... also he sold 313k and that included sales from Sunday to Thursday [ that was when we got the first sales update for his single]

Apparently the figures which have been got from DS regarding Leons sales do not include itunes sales because of crash/ technical error... dunno fi thats true but thats what i've seen some post. So his sales could be a lot higher

Do itunes really make that much difference?,they are merely one of many nowadays - i doubt they are MANY times the sales of other big download stores and APPLE are one of THE most wretched deceitful PROPERGANDERIST companies around (just look at how much they ripped people off with the SH!tephone AGAIN in the UK after first robbing their US blinded customerbase counterparts sensless earlier this year FFS).

The cynic in me thinks the totally UNCREDIBLE lack of mw data(how often does this happen? Then what are the chances of it happening on a such an infrequent relevant sales week as Leons 'unbearable noise' release,...exactly no chance at all ie it was deliberately orchestrated to try to damage limit the media from reporting on the as pointed out here - the RELATIVELLY poor sales for a (no)X factor act.

Btw everyone who complains about unable to get through to vote for Rhydian insidiously fail to state people have also reported not being able to get through for Leo too. The Leo fans aren't creating an uproar about it because their fave won, Do you think the people who use the 'phone line' excuse for their favourites failure would still complain so ardently about such a problem if Rhydian had won......QED!

No he didnt... The whole single ended up selling 850k

EDIT actually checking wiki he sold just over 1 million... but not 1.2 million lol

You are not correct. Dermott repeated that the other day - he sold over 300,000 the first day. The first total was over 750,000 from Sunday to Thursday.

All the media where saying that at the time but the fact was no sales figures where given until the thursday and he had only sold 313k at that point.

He sold 750k over the whole week.

52 31 Dec 742,180 Shayne Ward That’s My Goal

At close of business Saturday night

I can't remember his first day sales, I lost all my sales data from that year, when I had to update my system

Its fabulous that you have all these stats. I found this bit of info on the internet.

His first single, 'That's My Goal', was released in the UK on Wednesday, December 21st 2005 and became the Christmas No.1 in 2005, and stayed there until June 2006. It sold 313,000 copies on its first day of sales

and at the time lots of people commented on those reports... it had been released as a physical single for 1 day but the download had been available for 4 days..... Don't believe Simon Cowels hype

But its not hype that he sold 1.1 million copies of That´s My Goal. It is a stated fact.
im tempted to buy bubble myself his songs are really growing on me

Bought it and it's great, very relaxing. :cheer:

Leon will be the lowest selling x factor the last 3 years. He will also be an one-hit wonder. that's all....
Damn it i knew the babes would not budge much it just gets me very upset at how a brilliant song isn't even in the top 10 nonetheless top 5

Also girls aloud got to 3 with their latest single with is their 2nd of their new album and sugababes are doing awul compared to GA

You have to consider album sales not just the single sales. GA 2nd single was released BEFORE the album unlike SB's. After the release of an album particularly a massive selling one the majority of people already have the single on the album, so likely won't buy it again even if they think its the best song they've heard all year. A successful steady seller like the sugababes album means the more time passes the more difficult it is to get higher up the chart with successive single releases no matter how BRILL the single.Contrast this to GA album which so far has not managed the incredible consistant sales of the SBs album

Its only the U2s, Madonnas + Kylies of the UK chart world that can keep getting top 10 hits even on the forth/final single from a multi platinum album because they have such a huge loyal fan bases built from consistent multi decade/generational long term success that will buy the track regardless that they already have it on the album - as their interest is in remixes, collection, its a hobby etc etc

- however even though it hits the top 10, after fanbase sales its drops like a rock since most potential buyers already have it on the album OR the casual music buyer may buy the album instead if they like any of the previous hits from the current album - better value for money etc.Since the sugas album is currently rising it suggests this song is already popular and being bought - just via the album format(which shift much MUCH bigger units than todays pathetic single mkt) instead of via a single.

Only the most massive of hits, ESPECIALLY with sales of today, makes any $$$ for the record biz - their strategy is the singles will interest people enough to buy an album, they often are just loss making advertisments for the album which is where the serious £££ is made.

GA 2nd single was released BEFORE the album unlike SB's.

No it wasn't.

I wonder what problem everything has against leon he is only a young kid who has a different voice from everyone else so so be it let him be number 1

What a STUNNINGLY INCREDULOUS statement.

How does his age defend the music's OFFENSIVE to a MAJORITY'S ears? ,he had a fully informed choice about what the X factor entailed and whether to join it or not - if he is shallowly seeking fame soley for the sake of it such that he devalues quality music to this extent he deserves all the slating he gets just like the repugnantly fame obsessed and and thankfully now permanently dumpervilled Gareth Gates :puke2:

Yeh CTS was released after the album so get ya facts right before ya go on a rant.

Also, havent GA sold between 35-50k every week since it was released? That seems pretty consistent to me and for all the weeks more that the sugababes album has been out, i wasn't aware that it had sold that much more than GA anyway.

I was being served in Woolworths this dinnertime, and I was asked (as each customer was) whether I wanted to buy a copy of the Leon Jackson single.

When I asked why they were asking me that question, I was told because it is not selling as well as expected..........

I can feel all the love in this thread.
Oh, and for the 50,000th time (or so it seems) NO MORE Girls Aloud vs Sugababes c**p.

What about Blackout in this new update? Sorry to be always asking, it is for sure a pain in the ass but I am very curious to see when the album will start climbing again in the charts (if it does! ).
