October 28, 200817 yr I'm not a great mathematician, but that's heading for 150k+ by the end of the week, with SP close behind I think it could be very close in the end. One of them could be more front loaded while the other is more consistent. (I'm thinking Snow Patrol will be more consistent so they could overtake :()
October 28, 200817 yr I believe I saw this coming the day I heard I Can Feel You in this day and age, fanbases mean nothing if you release a terrible comeback single, and for such a previously great singer, I Can Feel You is really really bad...when even Kylie's fanbase can't get her a UK No.1 single, there was no way this weak thing was going to be a hit it will be hard for Anastacia to recover from this...it's amazing how one poor single choice can change the direction of a whole career, or in contrast how one great single choice can keep a career going...if it wasn't for SOS, I don't think we'd have heard from Rihanna again and if Katy Perry had gone with another track instead of Hot 'N' Cold, she would almost certainly have remained a one hit wonder Poor examples with Rihanna and Katy Perry-those singles were the make or break of whether their careers will fully take off or if they'll be one hit wonders. Anastacia has proved herself already. If this album completely bombs, she'll return with another one that could be huge. Look at Madonna and Mariah. They're last few albums have been hit or miss. Even P!nk. Can't Take Me Home flopped, Mizzundaztood came close to 2 million, Try this didn't do as well and I'm Not Dead brought her back to the millions. We've yet to see how Funhouse will do but its a good example. Its too late for Ana's career to be over until she says so and this album has yeat to flop-its only been out 2 days and is doing extremely well considering how the single has done.

'Left Outside Alone' was the make or break of Anastacia's career. If that hadn't done as well as it did, then she wouldn't be here now... just like GD's example with Rihanna and Katy...
October 28, 200817 yr Martin, where is Dido, do you know? And, where is Robin Thicke, also? I guess in the bin  Sorry, they are not top 40.

If that hadn't done as well as it did, then she wouldn't be here now... just like GD's example with Rihanna and Katy... But like I said, Anastacia proved herself with LOA and that was four years ago. ICFY is not the make or break of her career.
October 28, 200817 yr But like I said, Anastacia proved herself with LOA and that was four years ago. ICFY is not the make or break of her career. It COULD still damage her career. (Although I know it won't) But realistically, it could.
October 28, 200817 yr Author Martin, where is Dido, do you know? And, where is Robin Thicke, also? They are both making out

(I'm thinking Snow Patrol will be more consistent so they could overtake :() I'm thinking the total opposite :( as like other indie/rock bands sales tend to tail off slightly.

I don't think Anastacia is quite at the same level as Mariah, Madonna or even Pink...for the simple fact that she does not have much success in the US...I'll stick my neck out and say she'll never have another top 5 album in the UK...times change and people who were once HUGE are not anymore, Travis being the best example I can think of right now I wasn't comparing Anastacia to Rihanna/Katy Perry, those examples were illustrating a different point that one big single can completely alter a career course...if Rachel Stevens hadn't had Some Girls she would have faded away straight away after Funky Dory flopped, but instead she had a further three more top ten hits after that!
October 28, 200817 yr It COULD still damage her career. (Although I know it won't) But realistically, it could. I think it will... it's painful to see your favourite acts become less and less popular with each era but I've seen it happen time and time again with some of my favourites...Corrs, Delta Goodrem, Sophie Ellis-Bextor...even if the music gets better, the fanbase slowly gets smaller every time an act releases a weak single/album and eventually there is nobody left to buy them apart from hardcore fans I believe this is happening to Anastacia, and the signs are starting to show that it will happen with Dido and Kaiser Chiefs...if these two are still having No.1 albums 5 years from now, I'll be incredibly surprised...fresh talent will take over, only the lucky few survive
October 28, 200817 yr Generic post about Feeder Edited October 28, 200817 yr by Jester Much rudeness.
October 28, 200817 yr I suppose everyone's right but what I think the problem is-is that although these old favourites are fading out, there's nothing decent coming through to replace them. In the last two years, the only new artist whose album I've bought has been Duffy. I actually think today's music scene is in a shocking state.
October 28, 200817 yr 'Left Outside Alone' was the make or break of Anastacia's career. If that hadn't done as well as it did, then she wouldn't be here now... just like GD's example with Rihanna and Katy... Not really. I'm Outta Love and the Not That Kind album both sold more than LOA and the Ana album, and plus FON only sold about 100,000 copies less than her 3rd album. And ignoring UK, she's bigger in every other European country...
October 28, 200817 yr Anastacia has flopped because she's come back with such a poor lead single, and I agree with gooddelta that she'll never have a hit album again. Music's changed so much of late, and if you've been away for a long time, and then your lead single is absolutely terrible then you're destined to fail chart wise. I think music consumers crave so much these days, that you've got to come back with a good lead single or you are floating with danger. Dido and Kasier Chiefs have both released poor singles, and one has kind of flopped, and the other will flop (although saying that Kasier Cheifs' tours will all still sell out i'd have thought). It's kind of dog eat dog in the music industry at the moment, just look at the female artists around at the moment - Leona, Mariah, P!nk, Rihanna etc. etc., Anastacia really doesn't fit into that sort of sound at the moment, and her sound is very dated. Of course she still has a fanbase and they'll continue to buy her records, but I think her carrer is pretty much dead and gone now, chart wise at least (well in the UK).

I wouldn't write her off yet though. If one bad single can turn your career downwards, than a great single could bring you back. It happens all the time. I never thought hear of Robyn ever again after 1998, but 9 years later she had a no.1. I thought Shakira and Nelly Furtado would never see much chart success again-then they both had no.1s. Ana might not have success this time around but she, like Delta Goodrem, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and others mentioned could all come back at any time with a massive single and album. I'm not saying they will, just that you can never say never.

However assuming there is not a hidden gem on her current album, then she will need to come out of the blocks with a Left Outside Alone, I'm Outta Love style anthem on her next album to be a major force again. On a similar subject if I was Dido or part of her Record Company I would be very worried right now, if her performance with her single is replicated in album sales to how Anastacia is performing, then a multi-platinum #1 album no longer looks certain, which was unthinkable 3 months ago.
October 28, 200817 yr That's what I was thinking, her last 2 albums had singles that performed well, to match the albums success...
October 28, 200817 yr YAH! So pleased Girls Aloud's The Promise is holding up well! X Factor are doing REALLY well, its gonna be a great chart sales wise this week? Can i ask, are Sound of Girls Aloud and Tangled Up anywhere in the album chart?

Despite the single flopping I still think Dido's album will have a big first week, 300k+.
