November 13, 200816 yr Like a few people i hope VV Brown can have some sucsess. Dont suppose there's any chance of Nathalie Bassingthwaighte having some sucsess aswell.
November 13, 200816 yr I can think of two British female acts (not mentioned in this thread so far) who could be next year's Adele & Duffy. Both are English but of non-Caucasian extraction who have had low key profile appearances on BBC programmes in 2008 who have released limited available singles but whom both physically release debut albums early in 2009. I'm trying to decide between which of those two acts to be Nonsuch's entry in BJSC XII at the moment.
November 13, 200816 yr Pixie (FSR Rontvia BJSCXI for those who don't know of pixie.) and fingers crossed for Red Blooded Women. I'd love to see them make it.
November 13, 200816 yr I was going to say before i edited because i thought it was stupid but true Diana Edited November 13, 200816 yr by KJ Rob

November 13, 200816 yr I think Britney will be huge if shes touring and promoting and I think we will have comebacks from Eminem, Lily Allen and Mika This is not for exisiting successful acts or comebacks! For the record, I don't know at the mo. :(
November 13, 200816 yr I really have no idea. I pay little attention to hype or any c**p like it so have no idea who's being talked about, plenty of decent stuff out there though. Just from my personal chart this week: Ladyhawke Psapp Filthy Dukes Sneaky Sound System Red Light Company Friendly Fires Dodos Shinichi Osawa Those Dancing Days VV Brown Deerhunter Fight Like Apes
November 13, 200816 yr Be amazing if VV Brown and Red Light Company could do something! Naturally whatever comes top of that BBC poll thing will be guarenteed success.
November 13, 200816 yr Diana - With or without the X Factor win she will become pretty big I reckon ^_^ Same Difference EDIT: Pixie :cheer:  Edited November 13, 200816 yr by Johnjo07
November 13, 200816 yr La Roux and Little Boots should be big I see a few people are mentioning Pixie :D we can all but hope, although Mercury Records is hardly the finest record label she could be on
November 13, 200816 yr Oh Britney's gonna be massive ya know. She'll be HUGE with her next single as it's the most amazing thing EVER - NUMBER ONE FOR A GAZILLION WEEKS YAY. PREACH IT GRAHAM CRACKER!

November 14, 200816 yr This isn't a homegrown talent, but I hope Shontelle has some success here if she releases in the UK. She could tide a few people over if Rihanna takes a, much-needed, break for 2009. But who knows? This time last year I was thinking 'Hate That I Love You' could be the last single we heard from her for a while but a year on she's geared up to release her 7.5th single from this era and she's featured on the T.I. song which is destined for the top 3 this week. At this rate they could be recording her album behind the scenes, ready for release when the singles from this era start to tire people.
November 14, 200816 yr Author Yeah, Rihanna's back early next year. Tbf, she has had a lot of time off this yeah. She stopped promoing around when 'Take a Bow' was released. Did the odd performance for 'Disturbia' but hardly any promo push. She didn't do much major touring in the US either so really she's had 8 out of the last 12 months off. A release for her next album in April/May/June 2009 would make sense. It'll have been two years since 'Good Girls Gone Bad' came out. A gap of some length by her standards ;o

A gap of some length by her standards ;o I guess so, she only did This Morning for 'Disturbia' but you could say that's enough for what was a digital single doing well before she came to the UK. I don't know much about it, but wasn't she doing the big tour with Kanye and co. earlier this year? Anyway, while Rihanna may have had time off for some of this year, we haven't had any from her. I know it's important for her to keep her name out there to capitalise on this success but I'm sure even her biggest fans are getting bored of being milked by these constant releases across nearly two years. I feel that this is only going to set her up for a fall as this album has been so huge that her next one will probably be seen as a flop even if it's half as successful.

I think this whole "getting tired" of an act thing is a myth for the most part. Well in the sense it dents your ability to do well anyway. She hasn't disappeared for years; well EVER. She's released her three albums back-to-back pretty much and her profile only continues to grow. If she has a decent lead single for the fourth album then she won't have a problem. Everyone will love it and she'll just repeat the cycle. It won't be until the quality drops that she'll begin to take more of a break. When that is, none of us know I guess. Also we (speaking as a site) follow music so closely. The casual fan won't notice her anywhere near as much.
