Which was more successful than the first. But I suppose times change and no one milked their albums like Leona or Rihanna back then. Why are you even comparing Leona to Will? Leona has a successful career in the US and the US are basically catching up with us (Hence why there's a little delay from this album) than what people expected! Leona is one of the biggest selling females of all time and she has only had 2 years and 1 album in her career! not to mention she was from a reality show! Leona is the biggest thing to happen to british music in a LONG time!

Amy Winehouse did well in America, Lily Allen, Natasha Bedingfield and James Blunt too. Lots of British artists do well all over the world. And as for why I was comparing her to Will, was because I was asked what Will had done to take control at this point in his career. I was as good as asked to give a comparison. Don't ask me a question and then whine when I answer it.

He's a parochial popstar without the demands of promotion overseas. For those with international careers two years between albums is standard. As it is Leona's album has only been released for 7 months in some of the major territories.

I know scenarios are different but Leona could have had a new album ready for the summer, I'm sure, if she wasn't spending time with this deluxe. I got asked what Will was doing a year on, so I answered, truthfully. And its not just Leona, I'm never happy with deluxe editions. It smacks of record company laziness/eager to make money/eager to keep in the spotlight. The sad thing is that its necessary these days. Just look at Dido and Anastacia-no matter how good they're material is, people see them as 'forgotton artists' purely because they took time with their work.

I think it's under performed, because like 'Stepping Stone' it hasn't been given half as much videoplay (not sure about radioplay) as WA or Mercy :( The only performance I saw her do it were her BBC special she did a couple of week back (Which was on at something like 11.30pm or something! :lol:) and the CIN performance :lol: Everywhere seems to still be playing 'Mercy' TBH :(

I think it's a great song, but it hasn't really connected with the public. It's huge on the radio though, it just went top 5 on the airplay chart, and if you check out the Bullboard combined sales and airplay chart, it's already officially top 15... November 19, 200817 yr Wow, I take my criticism of Leona's management back :o They've played an absolute blinder - #2 (possibly #1) for a re-issued album? Vying for the #1 spot with one of the most anticipated albums of the year? masterstroke!!! :) And only a few days ago Leona fans were moaning about her incompetent management....... Do we know what the gap in sales is between Dido and Leona ? I'm guessing not a lot but Leona must be outselling Dido by 500+ a day to have overtaken. I know its got other new tracks and DVD but this is all on the back of 1 performance and 1 song. someone said on here that 1 performance would be unlikely to get a single to No 1. well its gone a step up and got an album to number 1 !! Anyone think of anytime by any artist this has ever been achieved before ? when Leona's management and Sony get the songs right and 1 gigantic performance to 10plus million people Leona is unstoppable (unlike forgive me that was too 'not Leona' for the people who voted for her and kick started her career, sadly :-( A re-released album from last year with 3 new tracks on it beating Dido's first LP for 5 years. All I can say is.. WOW. Turns out it was a good idea to hold back the release of Run after all.. Glad many think so now! And the album will not be no1 simply on the merit of "that" performance. I'm sure it's a significant influence, but she has just released a lead top 5 single from the re-release? That is traditionally what sells an album. Also, as a few people on this thread alone have posted, a number of people don't have the original album and are just now picking it up due to this repromotion and the fact the album (containing more tracks and a DVD) is now greater value for money I would have thought everyone would have had the album by now, I have and I don't even play it :D Me2! Got in for £5 Asda rollback in Apr-ish? (wouldn't have paid full price but for £5 seemed worth it for a listen- 3 stars IMHO) Can I have Tom Jones positions please? Thing is, If I Were A Boy is just a terrible song. She's made a lot of great solo records. Destiny's Child were great too (and actually I'm a bigger fan of Kelly Rowland than her) but it's not like they didn't pay their dues - check out this c**p! IIWAB is pretty drab. Overwrought, and not the best she has done by a long way. Her 1st solo album was good, but she's really became so derivative since. Of course, by sounding the same as everything else around right now, you sell even more. It's the same reason the biggest selling paint in the UK is magnolia.... :wacko:
