This was the year's most deserving flop, I think. There are no words to describe how awful this song is. :puke2:

Its by far one of my favourite Mariah songs! I thought it was going to be huge - I was clearly very wrong! :kink:

I don't think I'd personally class this as a flop yet ;) It seems to be hanging around for quite a while even if it has had a bit of a meh peak so far. But once all the christmas songs are gone I guess we'd be able to tell... Plus it is the 7th single released from a 2 Million + Selling album

not single but album....

The King Blues - Save The World, Get the Girl

with the lead single largely backed and played by Radio One, and with the album being AMAZING (even that johnjo freak liked it) im confused as to why it didnt make the top 75 albums.

Status Quo - It's Christmas Time. WTF. Great Christmas track yet limps in to the bottom of the top 40 for a week. Disgraceful. I am very very surprised as I had it as a top 10 hit, if not top 5 in Christmas week. Would have put big money on it in fact - and lost . :(

Nightwish - Bye Bye Beautiful

BTW, Nightwish flops all the time when it comes to singles! LOL

If I may, I'd like to mention Dido's new album 'Safe Trip Home'.

Her last two albums sold over 2.5m each, so WTF happened to this one??

Dream On definitely, and I can't explain it. It can't just be put down to the Christmas rush; that didn't stop Infinity 2008 doing well.

Also Save The Lies; thoroughly decent pop. It was the comeback single Anastacia should have recorded.

Goldfrapp - Happiness

Goldfrapp - Clowns

Portishead - The Rip

Grace Jones - Corporate Cannibal

Grace Jones - Williams' Blood

Adele - Make You Feel My Love (should've been number one)

I would imagine that Dream On was too complex a dance song to be a hit...it didn't appeal to chavs and didn't lend itself to mainstream audiences/airplay as much as With Every Heartbeat...therefore, its potential audience was greatly reduced, think of all of the successful dance songs of the past few years and they have either had a big chav following or tons of airplay

Save The Lies suffered from severe lack of airplay due to, the at the time still ubiquitous, Sweet About Me -_-

Rehab is a flop KJ Rob. We Ride reached I think #17, making Rehab her 2nd least successful single to date and Rehab the best rihanna single even as a 7th single only peaks at #16 and on it's way out already.. Huge flop imo. Even Disturbia could be a flop, with a physical it could've been #1 for a few weeks instead of spending 21 weeks in the top 40 and only peaking at #3.

It's not on it's way out at all IMO. Once all the Christmas songs have gone, I'm pretty sure it will climb, and position/peak wise yes it could be seen as a flop, but it depends what that person calls a hit/flop ;)

Maybe if HTILY went Top 10, I would probably call 'Rehab' a flop.

I'm so with you on Grace Jones' Williams Blood - fantastic record.

No way on earth is Rihanna's 'Rehab' a flop, it's the 7th single from an album which has sold way over a million copies, it's download only and sounds like several singles she's released before, it definitely did far better than I thought it would.
Rehab is still a flop for me. People will go down to remember (if they do) as that mediocre hundreth single instead of an unbelievably amazing one. Where if it was second single or replaced HTILY it could've been top 5 eventually. Rehab was sooner or later going to be a single. Now the single version has been wrecked, it's like 2 minutes long or so. .making it sound pathetically dull, probably in the end causing it to lose potential downloads and thus a flop. Where an original of 4 and half minutes which is much more deeper and varied would have a much more positive effect on a listener. I mean the single version ends on a cut off chorus instead of that great exit background music which rounds off the whole theme of the song. It's just hugely disappointing what DefJam has done to it.
Janet - Feedback was probably the BEST R&B song all year, it really was so undeserving to flop!
