i wouldn't doubt westlife getting another number 1, they just need a 'song of the moment' cover, bet they are kicking themselves they didn't cover adele's track lol
for sure its not bad, but its a little bit boring and not a ballad i could listen the whole day. . . there are much beter songs on their new album. . .

Same with me, it think it's very nice, and I wouldn't say they are karaoke singers by any means, by main umbrage with them was all the cover versions they did.

Yayy!! Another top 10 for westlife!!

I really wanted it to chart higher..but they have done practically no promo for this, apart

from the x factor, but it needs to be played on radio. I hate the way radio one never support

them. They only like to play certain types of music and never cater for a wider demo..after all

we do all pay a license fee.

UK pop quartet McFly burst on to the chart scene with a fresh twist on the boy band formula, they played their instruments! They wrote their own material! Lead vocalist and chief songwriter Tom Fletcher originally tried out for Busted, but when he was beaten to the position by Charlie Simpson the band's management held further auditions to form a new outfit centred around him. The links between the two bands were cemented when Fletcher contributed material for Busted b-sides, and the two bands toured together in 2003. The invaluable exposure from the tour helped push McFly's debut single, "5 Colours In Her Hair" to the top of the UK singles chart where it was promptly joined by debut full length ROOM ON THE 3RD FLOOR. Follow-up effort, WONDERLAND, matched that achievement and in 2006 they moved into the movies, starring alongside Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan in the film JUST MY LUCK. - HMV

I can't believe we have many Westlife fans on here :kink:
To be fair, in their early career, Westlife were really just in the right place at the right time for those no.1s. Take That and Boyzone had already done the work establishing the modern boyband of the nineties.
There's a boy band in Japan that have had 20 consecutive #1s, so we should consider ourselves lucky (although, to be fair, I think their songs are very good).
If this is still top 10 next week (which could happen) it'll be their first song to have 3 weeks in the top 10 since All About You - and to say they've had eleven other top ten hits since then that's really not very good  But this song definitely seems to be more popualr than most McFly songs, probably because it's one of their best songs :kink:

Edited by What's My Name?

I find Shine a Light a bit boring to be honest. It sounds like a generic Taio Cruz song. :(

But well done to them. It's done really well.

Who'd've thought McFly's 2nd week single sales would've outsold Westlife 1st week single sales ;)

Quite! :D

I think Mcfly are heading for a good run.

The next single will sure be popular outside of the fanbase also
