In terms of success I would rank each winning contestant as;

1. Leona Lewis

2. Alexandra Burke

3. Shayne Ward

------------------ FLOP LINE

4. Leon Jackson

5. Joe McElderry

6. Steve Brookstein

I reckon that Matt will probably do aswell as Shayne, do well for the first couple of eras but then eventually die away.

I wouldn't call Shayne a flop and I don't think Matt will either :) The females have had better care taken into building their careers.

Does anyone know what has happpend to Shayne-has he been dropped, will there be another single out this month, is he likely to get picked up by another label. It is odd as he has been the most successful male winner not sure why Syco let his career go down the drain. The best thing Matt could do to ensure longevity is to try and get a joint deal with another label like Leona, Alex and Olly.

He can hold my apples any time he likes :P

Oi! Join the queue

Anybody know Alexandra Burke's Overcome position in midweeks? Thanks. :)
As a side-note: "Your Song" could become the first song in 10 years to sell 50K for 8 consecutive weeks this week.

I can't see that happening, sales will fall quite a lot this week, at least enough for there to not be another all-50k+ top 4 (and 4 is the highest it'll be).

Unrelated:

5 of last week's top 10 were on their second runs in the top 10:

3 The Black Eyed Peas - The Time (Dirty Bit) 11-7-11-6-1-4-3-3-

5 Katy Perry - Firework 5-6-4-3-5-8-11-12-12-8-5-

7 Take That - The Flood 2-2-6-12-15-6-7-7-

8 Far*East Movement feat. The Cataracs and Dev - Like A G6 51-6-7-5-6-11-10-8-

10 Olly Murs - Thinking Of Me 4-4-8-13-12-10-

This week if the top 10 stays as it is there'll be 6 - The Flood and Thinking Of Me (and Whip My Hair) have fallen out but they'll be replaced by:

7 Katy B feat. Ms. Dynamite - Lights On 4-11-7-

9 Cee Lo Green - F**k You! 1-1-4-4-6-10-15-12-13-21-16-13-12-9-

10 David Guetta feat. Rihanna - Who's That Chick? 9-9-15-11-13-10-

I'm aware this disagress with the positions stated in the mids but I'm going off Radio 1's midweek update here.

I have a funny feeling Vidcapper doesn't like Matt

They aren't going to increase, so I don't see how they *can* save him, as Ri's gap over hm on iTunes gets ever wider...

Saturday is a bigger day for CD sales, since that's the weekend and usually, a lot of people are off school and work. He should get his biggest sales there. Also, Matt is high than Rihanna on the other downloading sites, I think. He was the last time I checked anyway.

Even with her lead over him in itunes, she's only sold 1k more than him.

It will be close.

Consistantly?!

His sales dropped 40% 2nd week, then 57% week 3...

I don't think you really understand what the word "consistently" means.

Not really surprising though, you can't even spell it either.

He sold 439k in his first week, then 299k in his second week and 115k in his third week, and now in his fourth week, he's still no.2 in the midweeks (no.3 on itunes, soon to be no.2 again). THAT is consistency.

But why on earth would they buy a physical copy *this* week, if they haven't already availed themselves of the opportunity over the last 3 weeks?

Do I hear the sound of straws being clutched at?

Why is IGAF still being bought, after a year. Why is Chasing Cars, Sex On Fire???? Etc.

He's #2, yes - but being rapidy hauled in by everyone...

I'm not sure what the big deal of him being #1 for a 4th week is, anyway?

What? He's sold 820k and he's still no.2. If that's not consistent, I don't know what is. Your posts are pretty $h!t.

:P

I guess Matt C should enjoy his 15 minutes of fame though - 1 more single & one album, then he'll be joining Steve Brookstein, Shayne Ward & Joe McElderry on the dole queue... :)

I think I replied to this already, but I'm going to just say this is the stupidest f***ing thing I've ever read from you.

Matt is great, and won't go down their route. Also, Shayne has had a pretty good career btw/

Rihanna 4 songs in the top 40 (3 in top 10) and 2 albums in top 40 (one #2)

RiRi domination

To be fair, Matt Cardle's winners song choice has got to be the best choice since the X Factor began. Its definitely adding to the success (on top of the "OMG he won the X Factor" effect) although I hope these people buying it have heard the brilliant and superior original.
Matt is dreadful. In looks, personality and voice.

I think "When We Collide" was a bad choice as a single. His voice doesn't seem powerful enough to sing it. I think he would have sounded better with another song.

What're you talking about - I made no mention of the sex of the winners?

it wasn't aimed specifically at you, sorry if it seemed that way - I've just seen a lot of posts on here saying he's bound to flop presumedly just because male winners do and I just think he deserves at least a chance before writing him off

Oh, shut it

Not top 40

Any sign of Kylie in album chart?

As above.

I don't like his version of Many Of Horror but at least he had some say in the choice of song which is a slight improvement on previous years.

:P

I think Matt Cardle should end up being reasonably successful. He has the looks, humility and unique voice to continue being popular.

Joe McElderry doesn't need to worry at all though. Now that he has the contractual pop album out of the way, he can concentrate on the career in musical theatre for which he was always destined. If he plays his cards right, he'll be the new Jason Donovan/Stephen Gately in the West End. With the right management, I think he could even be as successful as John Barrowman/Michael Ball. Joe will earn an absolute fortune and will still be appearing on chat shows and in theatres in 10, 20, 30 years' time. Who needs a pop career?
