Ooh, brilliant to see Ritual Union in the top 100! Hopefully it can get a place in the official top 100 also. Still pretty annoyed 'Wildfire' didn't do that after it went top 100 on iTunes.

Hopefully the album Ritual Union can sneak a top 5 place this week. I'm sure it can go top 10 at least given the pathetic sales it'd need to do that but it'll still only need 15k max to go top 5.

EDIT: Actually it might need closer to 20k, I completely forgot about Amy Winehouse.

Reading back the 'Glad You Came' thread in the Pop forum it got a fairly negative to average reception at first. That's part of the reason I'm surprised at its success I suppose... (although admittedly it has become much more liked on here since that thread started)

And JakeyShake is officially a fortune teller:

:o

There were also a handful of comments along the lines of 'sounds the same as all their other songs' so I'm not alone in thinking that.

I wonder if their next single will have similar success? Although it'll probably end up being another shitty ballad so more likely to enter at 1 or 2 then plummet...

I wouldn't ever take first listen knee-jerk reaction as gospel on BJ. This is why as a rule I avoid commenting on songs on BJ now until I've heard them at least a few times. It's quite embarrassing seeing people saying 'OMG their worst EVER' or 'this is truly awful' and then see the inevitable complete 180 turns the very next day

Their next single i think will be huge aswell - It's called 'Lightning' and along with GYC is the only new songs they sung on their tour, Its a really upbeat strong pop song   I recorded it at one of the 7 :kink: shows i went too so i think its time i uploaded it to YouTube.

That's why I've never debuted a song at number 1 on my personal chart - there have been a handful of Top 10 debuts, but most songs start out between 30 and 50. Let's face it, a good song is one that will have an enduring appeal.

Anyway, good to see "Back To Black" doing well (even though it's mainly because of a record company reduction to 59p), it spent four weeks at #1 on my chart in 2007 and I have the CD single, as I used to buy all my #1s on CD single back then. :D

Is that confirmed as the next single? Again in the Pop forum thread at least one person said they thought that was the second single. And AFAICT no one had haerd Glad You Came at that time.

Personally I think personal charts are meant to capture what you think of music at that specific moment, without trying to act like a 'crystal ball' and entering your favourite song of that moment lower than #1 just because you think you may go off it in the future. This is why I've allowed songs like Editors' Papillon and Little Boots' Remedy to go straight to #1 and then sink without trace. I went off them really quickly but they were genuinely my favourite song at one point in time and deserved their week at #1 for that reason.

It's also why I occasionally chart older songs (see Back To Black #4 in my current chart) and album tracks. I don't have any arbitrary 'rules' to my chart, it's literally just a 'screenshot' of my musical taste at the time of posting it.

But each to their own :P

Can somebody do a NOW update please? It dosen't let me access the top 1000 for the uk but does for Irish and Usa!

Bare with me and I'll do one :)

Let me find the last now update...

Wow. Mann already has another song out? It's doing much better than The Mack so far anyway. The Mack took an ETERNITY to even get in the top 300. It was weeks and weeks! :drama: Although the song has done well now, which is good. :D

I agree with you on all accounts - sadly I think Little Dragon will also fail to go that high. :(

The album is currently #51 on iTunes Albums - might not even make the official top 40 even in this pathetic albums sales climate!

Hitz the lowest album track?!? :(

Also, I swear Finish Line was on the last Now album?

EDIT: No, I'm thinking of 'Runaway'. Ignore that.

The crediting on this Now! album is screwed up again - it credits Give Me Everything literally as 'Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer' for example.

Ah. Wonder why the T-Pain song is the highest. Best Love Song debuted top 40, so perhaps he has some type of fanbase here. The T-Pain song from Snoop Dogg's album also charted the highest, but it already had a music video back then, and was confirmed as the 2nd single so that was probably why (along with people buying it because they like the sample). I'd be gobsmacked if Mann's album even went top 100!

I think even Wiz Khalifa's album missed the top 100 in the UK, and that's been absolutely huge in the US (it only got to #2 in the US, but I think it was released the same week as Britney Spears album, but it would've been #1 on a normal week (it was another Nicki vs. Kanye situation)).

I don't think the Mann album has any really big name duets on though, so I guess it figures that T-Pain fans cherry pick that track.

Rolling Papers got to #47, but Wiz was never exactly going to sell albums here (and neither is Mann but I doubt he'd miss the top 100!)

Wiz in general seems to turn everything he touches into a flop - Black And Yellow was fairly big, yes, but not on the scale I expected it to be and it was a flop in comparison to how well it did Stateside, his 'version' of Bright Lights Bigger City barely dented the iTunes top 100, Roll Up and his album we all know flopped horrifically and Till I'm Gone is performing extremely poorly by Tinie's standards.

I have a sneaky suspicion JLS might do a collaboration with Wiz Khalifa for single 3. Just seems like the thing that could conceivably happen. Hopefully they'll take note of the 'khurse' and not do it though (and/or not be considered relevant enough for a Wiz collaboration )

I saw Mann's album in HMV today. Are people seriously predicting it'll make Top 40? I know sales are DIRE, but he is a rapper with NO fanbase, he stands no chance. Buzzin' done well because of the sample/Fiddy, The Mack done ok because of the sample/Snoop. Featured rappers and samples will not help a 9 track album. (with a bonus track called Text...)

It only need to sell about 3k to go top 40 so it could conceivably just sneak in I reckon, especially as the only other top 40 entrants will be 3 Amy Winehouse entries and Little Dragon.

But it's more likely it will miss out. I'm surprised it's as high as #51 on iTunes Albums to be honest :P

Where did Little Dragon spring from, and how are they predicted a top 10 album? Just given Ritual Union a listen though and it's great, might have to download the album!
