September 14, 201115 yr Lady Gaga up to A-List - what a surprise. I'm bored to death of the song already, and it's not even cracked the T40 officially yet.
September 14, 201115 yr I'm listening to Lana Del Ray for the first time, and it's actually really good :D Nu-Christina Perri type hit please!
September 14, 201115 yr I change my mind then as my gut instincts are never right when they disagree with gooddelta (aside from when I predicted Example would comfortably beat Ed Sheeran). :D But if I do turn out to be right I'm going to count that as a moral victory for myself anyway. Yes 12k was such a comfortable victory! I never said that Ed would beat Example, I said I thought it would be close and saleswise it still was, even if Ed finished three places lower! I still don't really understand what happened with YNM, IDNY anyway...all signs were pointing to a huge opening week and that just didn't happen, yet interest in the album remains sky high, very bizarre... But as for Lana, it strikes me as the sort of song that just needed a push to be a smash, it has all of the ingredients of an Aloe Blacc style 'surprise' hit. It's the sort of song that I can imagine having people flood texts into Radio 1 saying 'what is this, it's gorgeous and I want it now OMG' etc...it wouldn't have been a hit of any sort without the help of playlisting but now it has been, I can only see it growing and growing from this point onwards with hype snowballing into a decent sized hit single.

Nope, I'm still counting that as a win for me I'm afraid :kink:
September 14, 201115 yr I predict Lana to be a top 3 smash. People love these type of songs right now. Don't be surprised if it gets used on the final of X Factor and stays in the T10 for 10 weeks

Nope, I'm still counting that as a win for me I'm afraid :kink: In fairness I think we were both anticipating them to come in at #1 and #2 with sales of around 100k so neither of us can claim much glory here  Wouldn't surprise me if YNM, IDNY eventually outsells Stay Awake anyay, in fact it probably already has if this excerpt from the Guardian review of his album is true: Indeed, even before Atlantic put it out last week, You Need Me was said to have sold 120,000 copies. Sheeran has already released it himself as a single, an EP track and in a 10-minute live version I doubt Vidcapper has tracked these 'pre proper/re-release' sales but it was always hanging around the iTunes top 1000 before being removed. Hopefully Music Week will combine the total sales of all versions for the overall total although I expect the majority of the sales were from non-official outlets like selling CDs at his gigs...

Yeah. It even managed 6 weeks in the RnB chart in its first release! :o On the website you see it's on its 8th week in the chart, even though it was "released" 2 weeks ago: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/rnbsingles

As far as I know you could still buy it up until about April/May this year too so hopefully Music Week will give us an accurate total sale at some point, combining all versions as it would be near impossible to track them manually.
September 14, 201115 yr I agree YNM,IDNY is likely to outsell Stay Awake overall. But both have underperformed.
September 14, 201115 yr Fantastic for Lana Del Ray. Hopefully next week Kooks/Kasabian/Snow Patrol will be removed and some decent stuff from that genre can be moved up instead!
September 14, 201115 yr Fantastic for Lana Del Ray. Hopefully next week Kooks/Kasabian/Snow Patrol will be removed and some decent stuff from that genre can be moved up instead! I'll let Kasabian and The Kooks go but Called Out In The Dark is Snow Patrol's best ever single for me.
September 14, 201115 yr I'm listening to Lana Del Ray for the first time, and it's actually really good :D Nu-Christina Perri type hit please! It was in BJSC I seem to recall, I also think you called it a dull ballad.

September 14, 201115 yr I don't get why less than 50% of people voted for Video Games in BJSC, it either got 10's and 12's or bugger all :( Hopefully the UK release will help it to click with people that weren't keen.
September 14, 201115 yr It'd be just like a dream if Lana even manages to get top 40   This. It'll be so amazing and yet it won't seem real!
September 14, 201115 yr Author I dont like Video Games at all, one of those winners that just mindboggled me. Overrated.

Really dislike the new Snow Patrol song, IMO it's really dissapointing, Kooks are just bland but LOVE the Kasabian track Pitbull has been on Radio 1 PLaylist 3 times this year, Good for Lana Del Ray, Ben Howard, The Horrors Some Good Additions : Bombay Bicycle Club and Nicki
September 14, 201115 yr I dont like Video Games at all, one of those winners that just mindboggled me. Overrated. I felt the same way about Inescapable. Catchy but a pretty hollow pop song all in all. Each to their own though I guess
