October 7, 201114 yr Still think Rihanna will do it, but maybe that's just the defeatest in me. Anyway IMO this will be the only song that beats MLJ to no.1 that is actually worthy of it quality-wise.
October 7, 201114 yr It looks like I'm going to need two versions of the chart commentary this week. I just hope I don't have a "Daily Mail moment" and post the wrong one :drama:
October 7, 201114 yr If only Birdy-Skinny Love could stay T40, it'd have to be played on the chart show, as a re-entry - but Reggie hates it... :w00t: Edited October 7, 201114 yr by vidcapper

October 7, 201114 yr I'm not sure, since there was once a time that they didn't play a new entry from Glee Cast. Yes, and I believe (though I could be wrong) that it was in the Top 20, and it wasn't even Reggie hosting that week
October 7, 201114 yr They're bound to skip loads this week-aren't we running alongside the teen awards? That'll be first priority.
October 7, 201114 yr For me Maroon 5 are still the favourites. I forecast that MLJ will do around 70-75K this week and Loca People around 50-55K. Therefore I'm guessing Loca People will have done 40K max up to now (5 days out of 7). That would mean that Rihanna has done less than 40K in her 2 days on sale - even though that includes her first day when her sales will have been greatest. Therefore she needs to shift a further 35K or so over Friday and Saturday - and I'm not at all confident that she will. I agree. Actually, I can see a contestant doing MLJ on Saturday on X Factor, and that performance on its own giving MLJ enough even if they were behind Rihanna at 8pm on Saturday to finally get to #1. ISTM it's all over bar the shouting now (angry/disappointed Maroon 5 fan shouting, that is). For a man so good with statistics to come to that conclusion without any sales info, I'm surprised!

October 7, 201114 yr I think if Maroon 5 do around 73k again then Rihanna's looking at 98k. I've crunched some numbers and stats & that but my assumptions may be flawed.
October 7, 201114 yr This one? It would be more embarrassing for them to fall that far from no.1 and get an unwanted record. No.1 isn't everything, surely Moves Like Jagger proves that. I don't get why everyone thinks chart positions still matter more than sales in the long run. And if Rihanna does make no.1 this week, as much as I love Matt and GCH's songs, I pray to God she stays there next week to end the ridiculous one weeker trend. I thought you just said that a number 1 isnt everything lol

I pretty much agree with this post, with the Rihanna track now in public domain, it probably start to wear off during the weekend. Next week's chart will be interesting with Matt Cardle and Gym Class Heroes releasing this weekend, I've got an inkling Matt Cardle's track will have to settle for #2 or #3 next week. I just hope GCH doesn't get stuck at #2 for the next 6 weeks, having a similar chart run as MLJ without getting to #1  talk about sods law.
October 7, 201114 yr I pretty much agree with this post, with the Rihanna track now in public domain, it probably start to wear off during the weekend. For me the question is aren't there some missing data again? If so, Rihanna is still in with the chance to take the number 1. I'm asking this because in the Thursday's mids We Found Love didn't show up at all, although the Wednesday's sales should have been enough for a top 40 place imo.
October 7, 201114 yr I didn't expect Rihanna to be any higher than #3 today so it's a good thing she's even up there. Maroon 5 aren't gaining back as quickly as I expected they would so fingers crossed Rihanna can get to #1, although I do still think M5 are more likely to get there. Florence down to #24, that bitch better not fall any further. Very surprised Birdy is still top 40 considering she barely grazed the iTunes top 40 all week. Does she have strong download sales from other sites or something? CTWYKM still holding onto that top 40 for today :D It'll overtake The Cover Girl so it's looking fairly good for it to reach 18 weeks (making it the sixth longest running #1 of the year so far after Someone Like You (34, likely 35 this week), Price Tag (25), Give Me Everything (23), Party Rock Anthem (22) and On The Floor (20)). It's already tied sixth but another week will distinguish it from both of Bruno Mars' #1s which are also on 17 at the moment. Pleased to see James Morrison back at #1. I hope Adele can re-overtake You Me At Six as well (but as we don't know sales figures she may be miles behind). Looks like 'Own The Night' will outpeak 'Need You Now' - I'm sure it won't sell anywhere near as much in the long run though. I wonder if '19' has an outside chance of getting back into the top 10 this week? I can definitely see it climbing from #13 anyway. Yes, and I believe (though I could be wrong) that it was in the Top 20, and it wasn't even Reggie hosting that week It was 'Singing In The Rain / Umbrella' at #22 - but you're right, it was Greg James doing the chart that week rather than Reggie. (Reggie did play SITR/U the next week when it was #39 - 'lucky' it was one of just three songs which lasted longer than a week top 40 the whole series, alongside 'Loser Like Me' and 'Thriller / Heads Will Roll') Edited October 7, 201114 yr by Bré
October 7, 201114 yr I'm must admit I'm unsure who will take number 1 now, number 3 after just a couple of days of sales is very impressive, I think MLJ would need to be about 50-55% by Saturday to get number 1, although Rihanna has pretty much peaked atm, so anything can happen...
October 7, 201114 yr I thought you just said that a number 1 isnt everything lol It isn't but if a song could cling on to the spot for more than a week, being no.1 might start meaning something again. So a 2 hour chart show on Sunday. Bit crap if you ask me. Hope Reggie shuts up for most of it.
October 7, 201114 yr Isn't Rihanna's new video meant to come out already? Or am I missing something...
October 7, 201114 yr Isn't Rihanna's new video meant to come out already? Or am I missing something... I'm not sure! :o I don't think so. I think they only filmed it last week.
October 7, 201114 yr BTW's tail off after the peak was astonishing, I dno't think Rihanna's will be as marked but it will still be extremely steep as she doesn't just have the "new release wear off" effect, but also the MLJ weekend effect. Anyway, I hope Rihanna's rubbish effort loses out to the far superior MLJ.
October 8, 201114 yr Poor Erasure's comeback album in freefall from it's initial midweek placing off 11 down to top 30. I assume it is 21?
