October 7, 201114 yr I reckon Rihanna will overtake then, to be 'only' #3 on two days of sales when everybody else has had five is amazing. Iris and Loca People were pretty much neck and neck on iTunes most of the week which suggests that she's a whisker away from #2. Granted Moves Like Jagger has had quite a large lead over Loca People all week so she's still got quite a bit of work to do but I'd say that she'll probably be able to do it. Whatever happens it looks as if the sales difference between #1 and #2 this week will be miniscule again. It does seem possible though that if Maroon 5 do manage to get the #1 by some miracle that perhaps We Found Love won't get there at all (a la Born This Way). Pretty sure Stereo Hearts is easing to the top next week unless I'm really underestimating Matt Cardle...
October 7, 201114 yr Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Maroon 5/Christina 2 Sak Noel 3 Rihanna Feat. Calvin Harris ISTM it's all over bar the shouting now (angry/disappointed Maroon 5 fan shouting, that is).

Ok thanks. I think it will make it come Sunday.
October 7, 201114 yr Well, looks like I was right, and Rihanna will be no.1. No.1 is so overrated anyway... :P

Of course, if M5 don't get #1 this Sunday, and GCH also miss out (to Matt C or Ri), it'll be a double blow for Adam Levine!
October 7, 201114 yr If she is like 10K behind Maroon (+/- from the first midweeks...) she can handle this is 2 full days of weekend (bigger sales).
October 7, 201114 yr On which planet? This one? It would be more embarrassing for them to fall that far from no.1 and get an unwanted record. No.1 isn't everything, surely Moves Like Jagger proves that. I don't get why everyone thinks chart positions still matter more than sales in the long run. And if Rihanna does make no.1 this week, as much as I love Matt and GCH's songs, I pray to God she stays there next week to end the ridiculous one weeker trend. Edited October 7, 201114 yr by T Boy

I would bet my mortgage on the fact they'd be happier hitting number one , regardless of where it will drop too in the second week than being at number two. Also, it being a "number one album" may make it easier to promote (and may also make their next album easier to promote as well) leading to a small increase in future sales. As for this "unwanted record" - who outside of chart freaks like us even know about this sort of record?

Besides Bre wasn't even being serious with that original comment but surely you can see his point?

While Loca People and Iris have been close, remember that as LP has multiple versions and the EP as well. I agree that Rihanna will do it with not much of a lead (Doh) but I think the pop bars don't always give an accurate picture. LP was on approx 18.500k on the first mids with M5 having an 8000k lead already, and that lead will surely be well over 10k by now. If you guess that LP sold a further 7k each day on Tues/Wed/Thur puts it just below the 40k mark so Rihanna probably hasn't done this yet. M5 only hope is if it has a rebound weekend effect over tonight and tomorrow and is able to make sure progress. Could go either way IMO
October 7, 201114 yr You know, with iTunes being a 48 hour chart and Maroon 5 already starting to peg her back a bit, it might not be all over yet. They'll need to be at well over 50% by tomorrow night but given their lead over Sak Noel is pretty big in its own right and Rihanna hasn't caught him yet, you never know. 90% sure Rihanna will be #1 but stranger things have happened.
October 7, 201114 yr For me Maroon 5 are still the favourites. I forecast that MLJ will do around 70-75K this week and Loca People around 50-55K. Therefore I'm guessing Loca People will have done 40K max up to now (5 days out of 7). That would mean that Rihanna has done less than 40K in her 2 days on sale - even though that includes her first day when her sales will have been greatest. Therefore she needs to shift a further 35K or so over Friday and Saturday - and I'm not at all confident that she will.
