And I'm glad Rihanna is back on top, it stops the weekly turnover at #1 a bit. Not sure if she hang on for a 4th week though with Labrinth and Professor Green releasing this weekend.

"Rihanna, who has already spent two weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart with her track ‘We Found Love’ feat. Calvin Harris, is now in pole position. However, with as little at 1,600 sales separating the Number 1 and Number 2 singles, there is still everything to play for."

So, Rihanna is approximately 1,600 sales ahead of The Wanted. :)

This is quite a boost for Noel in the singles chart. I mean, songs usually get boosted when the album comes out, but wow! :o

Physical single out is boosting it but the album version is #31 on iTunes now so he shouldn't drop much from where he is now by Sunday. I would laugh if it ended up ahead of "Run For Your Life"

He's had a lot of promo lately. Was on Strictly Come Dancing last weekend for example, so some good prime time TV. Apparently that had a bigger audience than the XF.

Umm, that was actually nearly 2 weeks ago :) He's had no promo since then, and the new single has no video or airplay as yet.

UK Midweek Chart Update: Rihanna moves ahead of The Wanted

11:28 | Thursday October 20, 2011

By Paul Williams

Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris’s We Found Love has edged ahead of The Wanted in the UK midweek singles chart after the boy band had taken an early lead.

The Global Talent/Island act looked like they could be on for their third UK number one single after leading the market up to the close of business on Tuesday, but Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna/Harris is now back in charge having spent its second week at number one last Sunday.

However, there is little more than 1,000 sales separating the tracks, according to Official Charts Company data, so either release could claim top honours once the final chart is published this coming Sunday.

The Sour Marsh-handled Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds album continues to lead the artist albums market with Columbia/Syco act Matt Cardle’s Letters second, while DMG TV’s Daniel O’Donnell has now progressed into the Top 10 positions with The Ultimate Collection having been in 11th place on the midweeks published on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Stone Roses’ self-titled first album has arrived in the Top 75 following the announcement on Tuesday the band were reforming for a tour. The Silvertone/Columbia album is presently the 59th biggest-selling artist album of the week.

The full midweek singles and albums charts are on musicweek.com.

A post referring to "Unbelievable talent";

Yes it always floats to the top #14 in today's midweeks. :cheer: :D

...and spiidey's update that immediately followed...

14 Justin Bieber

...just me that found that funny? :heehee:

That was nearly 2 weeks ago. Can you give any more examples of "a lot of promo"..no? thought not. He's doing well because it's a bloody good album and word is spreading :)

Riharris back at #1 :D It's really amazing how well it's held up without a video (until yesterday anyway :P)

Good to see Bieber falling and Laidback Luke/Example climbing from yesterday.

Looks like Sean Paul could get in the top 10 this week, he might possibly replace Lana Del Rey in there?

Nice to see M83 Top 40 in the albums :D Also woo for Kelly still being top 5! She'll probably end around 7/8 though :( Nice and stable chart run though following her perf on XF at the weekend :D

I would say singing to the biggest TV audience of the week is a " lot of promo" and the album starting going back up the chart after that performance and has held steady since. Not everyone will go and buy it the day after. Its irrelevant whether the album is good or not someone asked why the albums sales had increased and I gave my opinion and stand by it. Does it matter why the album has sold a few more copies as long as its selling? Geez....

Oh and quit being so defensive :) Or did you ever stop? :) No thought not!

Don't have anything to be defensive about  you're definition of "a lot" is obviously quite different to mine and just to set the record straight the SCD results show has several million less viewers than X Factor's Saturday show and always has far less of an impact on record sales than X Factor.

Don't mean to be pedantic (after all, it would be UNFORGIVABLE to stray off topic in the chart thread) but Strictly had lower viewing figures than the X Factor last week.

Hasn't XF had higher figures than SCD every week of the live shows for at least the last couple of series?

Yes but there are no guest performers on XF on Saturday night. Anyway all I was saying was I thought his sales were boosted by singing on SCD, which they were. Its a great slot for promo.

Yeah, the gap was actually only a million or so last week which is lower than usual.

Oh well. :( At least it's still top 10 but with two more days of sales left I think its safe to say this will be lucky to be #10 come Sunday.

god that Prof Green Ft Emilie Sanda track is such a blatant rip off to get a number 1 for him hope it misses.Anyone else think Emilie sounds like Celine Dion on the track thought it was first time I heard it would have been oddest collab ever.

Really? I read that Strictly won the "ratings battle". It was all over the papers anyway. Not that I've ever watched Stricltly :)
