So Coldplay should be at about 220-250k in total for this week. I predicted 200-225k for them, so I wasn't that far off.

27.5k is great Tuesday sales for Coldplay - put it this way, they sold over a quarter of their first day sales which included all their (record-breaking) pre-orders and a good chunk of their fanbase. I was expecting it to sell less today if we got sales figures at all. I still think they could be heading for 250k+ but really even another 200k+ opening is fantastic given the sales climate of 2011.

Princess Of China in the top 40 and Paradise still at #12 :cheer: Also great to see Lego House up a place today, I wouldn't mind that overtaking Paradise but hopefully Paradise will stay at least as high as #13.

Would have liked to see an update on Green and Labrinth's sales today but meh, at least we got a Coldplay update.

Hang in there Kelly! :D (Overtaking Michael would be rather nice, though!)

Hooray for Buble !!!

Although it seems strange to have a Christmas album still in October

Has Ben Howard appeared anywhere recently? His chart run so far is 7-35-49 so seems slightly odd to have gone up 10 places....

You're clearly forgetting the effect of my thread in the Alternative section.

And my support. This must have accounted for about a 5 place rise!

As for Coldplay, I doubt they will hot a million quickly with this album - VLVetc barely managed it but I am well pleased with the projected 200k sales for the week though.

Great sales for Coldplay. But TT's Progress had about 235k in first day last year and it's principal question for rivals between UK bands =)

Agreed, Coldplay's first week sales won't come near the first day sales that Take That has with Progress. The only act that could match or better 235k in one day would be Take That themselves when they release their 7th studio album.

160K, i'd think more 190-200? With weds, thurs, fri and saturday sales. Its going to sell well over 30,000 in the space of 4 days..

And I don't know, they won't make 200k, maybe 180k at a push but as Jez has posted (see below), 2nd day sales are already down to just over 25k from 95k. And MB will go number 1 after his X factor performance and itv special. he will end up selling over a 1.5m before xmas

good sales for coldplay 122k after two days... probably end up with 200k-230k by the end of the week.

sales have slowed down obviously as first day sales had huge pre-orders.

1st day 95k

2nd day 27.5k

MX's first day sales included at least 6 weeks of pre-orders (maybe even more, it was 6 weeks from iTunes but may have been available even earlier from other sources) and probably a good chunk of their core fanbase that didn't pre-order. It was obviously going to tail off by a lot on its second day, it's not exactly going to nearly quarter again tomorrow. It'll definitely do 200k and I don't think 250k is out of the picture yet.

Does anyone know if Coldplay have any promo lined up for this week?

You sure they won't make 200k? That would require 20k a day. I don't see why today, tomorrow and Friday will be much lower than yesterday's figure of 25k and Saturday is always a far bigger sales day. They won't touch 300k, in fact they probably won't even beat Adele's record for the biggest weekly sales this year, but they really should make well over 200k.

They were on Later... last night (plus Friday's extended repeat).

Ah, there seems to be a live stream of a Coldplay gig on the YouTube front page right now.

You mean Gaga's record for biggest weekly sales this year?

Last time I checked 257,731 is more than 215,639.

I'm glad Darren will debut at least top20 if everything is Ok.

She has the record for highest first week sales, but Adele's Mothers Day week total beat her.

Update in, no change at the top, give me a min.
