27- OLLY MURS FEATURING RIZZLE KICKS- HEART SKIPS A BEAT (462,700)

Proving this year to be the most long lived of the X Factor stars of 2009 (on the singles chart at any rate) Murs grabbed a couple of chart toppers in 2011. Whilst “Dance With Me” didn’t sell enough to make the magic 40 its predecessor certainly does, his second No 1 single following 2010’s “Please Don’t Let Me Go” .

Amazing that Adele's "SFTTR" outsold so many No.1's of the year, only reached No.11 and taken from such a huge selling album! Great stuff! :D

Heart Skips a Beat is AMAZING! Definitely one of my favourite songs of the year, and the only Olly Murs song that I like tbh.

Rizzle Kicks are kind of "outcasts" like Olly aswell, since they went to BRITs school apparently, which isn't really "cool" in the rap world. I love their verse though. They have such a good sense of humour.

A little surprised Olly is this low, I was expecting him to be a bit higher. A great pop song though, so catchy and never got tired of it.

Can't think of all of the 26 above him, let me just make a list in my mind. I'm not going to vidcappers threads, I'm gonna attempt this from memory. :

ETA: Got 15/26, one of them WAS Yeah 3x, k?

The song that started the return to form for Brown came in February 2011, the first of three top 10 hits for him this year. It was apparently written in 15 minutes, make of that what you will.

At least this is better than MTV's attempt. They still have Moves like Jagger at number 4

Yeah 3x. :puke:

Chris Brown is an amazing artist, and his album is brilliant, but sorry, Yeah 3x is AWFUL. I wish it was Look At Me Now here instead. That's another of the best songs of the year, but it only peaked at #44. Calvin Harris's version of the song was better. Even JLS's was better lol.

Generally well received as one of the best singles on “Born This Way”, this was the third single to be taken from it and written about her grandfather’s death. Whilst critics are quick to point out the relative failure of the era in relation to “The Fame”, the album should still finish in the top 10 for the year though.

The Edge of Glory is better than Judas at least.

Both Yeah 3x and The Edge of Glory had MASSIVE chart runs, especially considering their #6 peaks.

Hmph. Number 25 is far too low for this song. Fantastic single choice, but it absolutely should have led the campaign. It would easily have got another 200,000 under it's belt then. Still it'll make it to half a million I'm sure. Not too bad.

It was held up in the pre Christmas charts of 2010 spending 6 weeks hovering mid chart before moving quickly up and into the top 3. A song about stereotypical males and misogynistic behaviour it kicked off a fantastic year for the Essex born singer.

This would be about #11 were it the lead single. Oh well.

BTW, Edge of Glory and Marry the Night would have all been here and higher had they got better videos and if the awful Judas didn't kill the momentum

Edited by Paramore

This still sounds really fresh, probably because it's so different to the majority of this chart.
Can't believe how big DILAD was. I hated it at first, but it grew on me a lot. And it's a very unique song. Very different. However, my favourite Jessie J songs are Who's Laughing Now? and Nobody's Perfect.
