I know 'Troublemaker' is the epitome of everything that's wrong with chart music today, but I can't help but like it a bit

Wooooooo! :D Doing well for it being a fourth single and not having much airplay.

Troublemaker is absolutely awful, too generic even for ME (and I was wetting myself over The Saturdays' new album!) and that says a lot.
I found Little Bad Girl too generic for my liking but I really like Troublemaker :drama:
I see it is rumoured that Alexandra Burke's 'Elephant' is going to hit radio next week! :o It apparently has a House sound to it. :o

It would be odd if it didn't seeing as it features Erick Morillo :P I really liked Erick's 'Stronger' (completely undeserved flop last year, only made #80 :() so I'm hoping 'Elephant' might finally be another decent song from Alexandra. Broken Heels is the only one of Alexandra's first 6 singles that I like.

Taio is falling back, from 97% to 95% in the last two hours. Not a great amount and it could still advance but Flo has a chance to hold on if that is Taio's level.

Good, hopefully it's peaked now and won't make #1 after all :D

Coldplay could be down to #5 before long based on Kworb :( I am loving Mama Do The Hump more than Paradise at the moment so I won't mind that overtaking but Domino is a different story.

I have yet to her this Taio song, but the comments here are not making me look forward to it!
I am looking forward to hearing it, especially if it has a House sound to it. A 2 minute demo leaked a few weeks ago called 'Tonight' and it is fabulous, so I hope it has a similar sound to that, as I would say that was housey.

Just listened to 'Tonight' and JESUS that is brilliant! It reminds me of 'DJ's Got Us Falling In Love' for some reason. That song has the potential to be better than the majority of singles from Alexandra's last album.

Alexandra's vocals really do work well on club tracks. Her voice just soars to amazing levels! Hopefully 'Elephant' is premiering soon. Her TweamBurke (her Twitter fan club) say they know details of the song's premiere but can't release them. I assume that is because there will be an official announcement soon.

Its not as bad as everyone is making out. I don't even think its that generic myself, no more so than some other tracks that are floating around at the minute anyway ('We Found Love', 'Good Feeling', 'Sexy And I Know It', 'Do You Feel What I Feel?').

Oh Kiss The Stars is 59p. That's odd. Are they that concerned about it flopping?

I know, I have had it on repeat for the last three weeks. Apparently its not even going to be on the album though disappointingly, but then again mabye the album is so bloody brilliant, that even 'Tonight' isn't good enough? I doubt it, but thats what I am telling myself to try and get over the disappointment at never getting a full version.

I really like 'Troublemaker' - reminds me of 'Till the World Ends', definitely less generic than 'Little Bad Girl' and 'Break Your Heart'. It does have a January-release sound though, sounding much like the hits from the year before - reckon it'll debut at 03 and possibly fall to 06 on its second week; hard to tell its chart run though, with little in terms of new releases. 'Domino' and 'Mama Do the Hump' have both certainly become top 5 contenders from seemingly nowhere.

I know I would be if I was them, it's gonna have to be a HUGE hit to salvage the mega flop of an album and what is the likelihood of that?

Oh how do you know that? :o I'm sure there will be at least 3 or 4 tracks on the eventual album that I won't like as much as 'Tonight'. After all, Overcome had 'Dumb', 'Gotta Go' and 'Nothing But the Girl' over the likes of 'Perfect', 'Turbulence', 'Before It Explodes' and 'The Map'.

Alexandra is Executive Producer of this album though so hopefully she knows what works and what doesn't.

Interesting to see how "Generic" seems suddenly to have become almost a term of abuse.

As I have said previously, "generic" can be both good and bad.

It is good in the sense of, say, Katy Perry. The instrumentals of 'The One That Got Away' and 'California Gurls' are very generic but the lyrics give them both an edge. Plus Katy has various types of sounds. She has pop/rock ('Circle the Drain'), balladry ('Pearl'), electro-pop ('California Gurls'), hip-hop ('E.T.').

Taio on the other hand is "one-trick-pony generic". He literally could release the same single over and over again and no one would know the difference. Same with Guetta. They become so complacent on a sound's success that they become the bad kind of generic.

The reason I hate generic songs is because they're very forgettable, I've heard hundreds of songs that sound just like them all through my life, it's extremely lazy and patronizing from the creative point of view, (they're just playing a chord progression on a keyboard, then BAM, #2 on iTunes ), and I guess they're just boring. Now, more than ever, we need chart music to "go" somewhere else, but the songs just seem to be getting more and more generic.

Although, I will admit, having listened to Troublemaker again, the verses aren't really that generic. Just the chorus. If the song was like the verses the whole way through, I'd probably like it. But the chorus is so generic. I genuinely think we've had over 100 Sexy Chick clones chart in the top 40 since the original came out.
