The X Factor winners usually wait until Autumn to release their first single, where they perform in the first episode of the live shows.

But I think a better strategy for Little Mix would be to release something as soon as possible tbh, and perform their 2nd or 3rd single on the X Factor live shows.

Girls Aloud had the perfect stategy I think after their PTR win. They released their second single in May, with the album straight after it. May is reasonably soon after the show but not too soon, so that they rushed the recording and they didn't produce a good album or had to release a boring cover version to lead (Marcus Collins <_<), as they gave themselves a good 5 months in the studio.

Woop, go Gotye :cheer:

Nicki seemed to be catching up to Gotye a few days ago, but it's going to be hard to see how well she is doing without kworb/popularity bars working! Hope they sort it out soon.

Yeah but being a sucessful group from the show its maybe better them releasing with a jls style strategy....One Direction released WMYB too late last year meaning the size of the hit outshone the November release 3 months later!

StooShe sounded great - amazing to see their debut single landing at #5, hopefully a second single will follow in its success.

A third week at #4 for 'Wild Ones' and a third week at #2 for 'Next to Me' - seems everything else is just moving around them.

I have yet to hear it on a night out, but i'm warning everyone now. I'm officially going mental when it comes on

The two night clubs in town are in love with it, I heard it at least 5 times in a few hours last night!

I wish Nicki was at #2. An Alexandra/Nicki top 2 next week would be amazing - though highly unlikely!

Yeah, I agree with that. Hopefully their record label use their brains this time. I don't think the public will still be interested in them after 9 months unless they have a song in the summer to keep them in the spotlight.

Somebody That I Used to Know

I would've liked Emeli to be #1 this week. I thought she might have had a chance after that big boost she got last Sunday.

Glad Gotye is the monster hit i predicted at xmas, but i hope it doesnt just get to no1 for the next few weeks because the new entries flop...and it is only selling 40-50k a week...time for something else to rise up the chart its had its time now....if starships was given a video it could get there, once Gotyes sales fall down far enough you might find loads of stupid one week no1s by NE which would be bad news for the chart, record companies have to understand how to work OA

/OS!!!!!

I think you will find most of the forum predicted a huge hit for this long before Christmas ;)

Just downloaded Gotye. Such a great song and fantastic to see a long stayer at the top. It makes up for MLJ not getting there last year.

I thought since last summer it would be a big hit. Probably because I check the worldwide charts, but seeing it smashing in so many countries, I thought it must happen here too.

This song never gets old, 4 weeks at #1 now, it's doing exactly what Hips Don't Lie did
I know most of the forum heard it in september but i dont follow the charts outside of the uk.once i did hear it at xmas i immediately loved it and was glad it was given an OA/OS release to see it rising in popularity!

I was thinking earlier this could do a Hips Don't Lie (or a 'reverse Someone Like You').
