Probably because they're equally as bad as each other

'Young' is a completely generic, underwhelming debut single.

'Call My Name' is a brilliant comeback single and probably Cheryl's best solo single to date. The melody in the verses is brilliant!!

I reckon Karmin 'Brokenhearted' will be massive whenever it's released. Possibly getting #1 but certainly having good sales and a long chart run?

I don't think it will be #1, but I think it might be a mini Moves Like Jagger/Wild Ones, not getting #1 but still being massive.

This song deserves to be 36 places higher.

Yes, I know it got to #34, but it's so good it deserves its own chart number that no other artist has ever achieved.

'We Are Young', 'Somebody That I Used To Know' and 'Titanium' all climbing, 'Call Me Maybe' a non-mover. The four highest selling songs of the year so far (I assume 'We Are Young' will have overtaken 'Starships' with this week's sales). Yawn.
In the UK, maybe, but in the US, Wide Awake was #2 on iTunes before she released the music video, and E.T. got to #1 before she released the music video.

Im sure there would be evidence to suggest otherwise...but this is what the 7th single from the album?

Yeah, this is the 7th single from the album...but I don't understand what that has to do with what I said.

Rudimental, really pleased this has done so well as it's easily one of the best #1s of recent years.

Still #7 on iTunes :cheer:

8th.

Really liking 'Feel The Love' now!

I always think it's the 7th, as I forget about The One That Got Away, since it didn't go to #1.

This song deserves to be 36 places higher.

Yes, I know it got to #34, but it's so good it deserves its own chart number that no other artist has ever achieved.

Agreed

'Feel the Love' escaping the traditional 'peak and quick decline' chart run of most dance music. I think it helps that the track effectively came from nowhere the week it debuted at number-one and has ever since received further airplay etc. - it's certainly grown on me massively.

Great to see Stooshe now advancing 04-08-05, the four place drop last week seems out of place now - wonder how far it'll fall after the 59p reduction comes to an end. Regardless it's bound to sell more than 'Love Me' now, and rightly so.

Will.i.am for #1!

One More Night

Recorded in Los Angeles over the last year, Maroon 5 return with their highly anticipated fourth studio album 'Overexposed'. The new album is a rich, pop-infused collection featuring 10 new tracks. The album was executive produced by Max Martin with additional tracks produced by Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder.

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine said of the release, "'Overexposed' is definitely one of our most diverse and poppiest albums yet. We had a great time recording it".

Guitarist James Valentine added, "'Moves Like Jagger' was the first time we ever worked with an outside writer, so we decided to try it some more on this record. At this point in our career I think it was a good thing to completely mix up our process and it yielded good results, as well as a more collaborative spirit within the band. We wanted to make something that sounded contemporary with the elements of a lot of early eras of pop music. This is our most pop record ever and we weren't shy about really going for it."

Maroon 5's musicianship and frontman Adam Levine's vocals are as distinct as ever on 'Overexposed', continuing to showcase the band's ability for creating songs that have become part of the pop fabric. Maroon 5 began writing and recording the album during their most recent world tour and the resulting collection is chock-full of undeniable, anthemic melodies. The album includes such stand out tracks as the emphatic single 'Payphone' featuring Wiz Khalifa, the irresistible 'One More Night' and the rythmic ballad 'Beautiful Goodbye.' - HMV

Burn It Down

Linkin Park return with 'Living Things' which has been co-produced by Rick Rubin (ADELE, METALLICA) and Linkin Park vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda, who co-produced Linkin Park's last two albums. Rolling Stone magazine says, "The material is the band's most powerful since its megahit 2000 debut."

Singer Chester Bennington recently appeared to have admitted that the band went too far with the experimental, heavily electronic sound of its last album, "A Thousand Suns". Speaking with Kerrang! magazine about the band's forthcoming CD, Bennington said, "With this album, we've incorporated a lot of guitar work with big choruses and the heavier electronic stuff to give it that really big wall of sound feeling without getting too metal. This will be more familiar to people than 'A Thousand Suns' was, where we were like 'f*** it, we're just going to go bonkers."

"A Thousand Suns" polarized the band's fans, while not selling nearly as many copies as the group's previous three multi-platinum studio efforts.

Shinoda told The Pulse Of Radio at the time that Linkin Park were glad they went in a new direction. "I think we were just at a point where were hearing out things out there in the music world, a lot of stuff that was kind of boring us," he said. "The music that we were writing that sounded like something that Linkin Park would do was kind of boring us. And we wanted to really challenge ourselves to try something that felt fresh and exciting." - HMV

You Can Call Me Al

With Graceland, Paul Simon hit on the idea of combining his always perceptive song writing with the little-heard mbaqanga music of South Africa, creating a fascinating hybrid that re-enchanted his old audience and earned him a new one. It is true that the South African angle (including its controversial aspect during the apartheid days) was a powerful marketing tool and that the catchy music succeeded in presenting listeners with that magical combination: something they'd never heard before that nevertheless sounded familiar.

As eclectic as any record Simon had made, it also delved into zydeco and conjunto-flavoured rock & roll while marking a surprising new lyrical approach (presaged on some songs on Hearts and Bones); for the most part, Simon abandoned a linear, narrative approach to his words, instead drawing highly poetic ("Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes"), abstract ("The Boy in the Bubble"), and satiric ("I Know What I Know") portraits of modern life, often charged by striking images and turns of phrase torn from the headlines or overheard in contemporary speech. An enormously successful record, Graceland became the standard against which subequent musical experiments by major artists were measured. - HMV

Paradise

Coldplay began working on Mylo Xyloto in 2009, while the band was still in the midst of its multi-year tour in support of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Recording sessions stretched from 2009 to 2011, with Brian Eno collaborating with the band on several songs and R&B singer Rihanna lending her vocals to “Princes of China.” Markus Dravs, Daniel Green, and Rik Simpson all shared production credits, too, resulting in a diverse album inspired by industrial rock and electro-pop. Coldplay began debuting the new tracks as early as May 2011, with “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” kicking off a string of anthemic singles.

Turning Tables (Live)

'21' is the second album from singer-songwriter Adele, and like her first record, 2008's '19', it is named after the age Adele was when she wrote the album. Most of '21' was produced by Rick Rubin, who has worked with some of the biggest acts of the last 20 years, and Florence & The Machine producer Paul Epworth. Lyrically the album reflects Adele's increased maturity since '19', although it explores many of the same themes.

Otis

For this project, music icons and pop culture visionaries Jay-Z and Kanye West have joined their extraordinary talents to form the group 'THE THRONE'.

The long-time friends and music innovators inspired each other to new heights with their collaboration on 'Watch The Throne' recorded in person at various locations around the world. Over a year in the making and a truly global affair, the duo recorded in London and Bath in the UK, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Paris, and New York City.

Though shrouded in secrecy, the album has already been heralded a 'masterpiece' by those who have heard it, and features production from The RZA, The Neptunes and Kanye's longtime collaborator Mike Dean. The short list of featured vocals includes Frank Ocean, Beyoncé, Curtis Mayfield and Mr. Hudson. The lead track, 'Otis' brilliantly weaves Otis Redding's 'Try A Little Tenderness'. - HMV
