September 23, 201214 yr If Tulisa's song had the same success as Mumford and Sons's song, people would also say it was a flop. Both those songs have done well imo, because of what they sound like. If Tulisa's song sounded like Pound the Alarm, and peaked at #11, I'd say it flopped. But it sounds like a Lil Wayne song, so... Next to Me is the best-selling urban hit of the year so far though, that did really well. But Pound the Alarm only peaked 3 places higher lol but is still top 40 after how many weeks, whereas Tulisa will have 3-5 weeks top 40 with this. Also any indie/rock track that charts in the top 20 is a success due to the rhythmic pop bias of uk radio and especially mtv at the moment.
September 23, 201214 yr GANGNAM STYLE  what a truly incredible number 1 this will be next week! (I think I'm losing it slightly) Edited September 23, 201214 yr by Hoopoe
September 23, 201214 yr I suppose saving the UK top 40 from Rebecca Black took much of the energy that could prevent PSY...
September 23, 201214 yr I'd be lying if I said I didn't just dance to that. Best song in the charts

September 23, 201214 yr Yay at The Killers holding off P!nk (was only vaguely worried she might overtake anyway though). P!nk will almost certainly outsell them overall I reckon so it's just good to see them keep up their 100% #1 studio albums streak. Brilliant to see Plan B get a seventh week top 10 as well :D Didnt realise Pink has only had 1 uk no1 album, shes been unlucky enough in that front!!
September 23, 201214 yr Anyone else having problems watching on the Radio 1 website? I don't bother with it no more. OCC site will update pretty soon.
September 23, 201214 yr But Pound the Alarm only peaked 3 places higher lol but is still top 40 after how many weeks, whereas Tulisa will have 3-5 weeks top 40 with this. Also any indie/rock track that charts in the top 20 is a success due to the rhythmic pop bias of uk radio and especially mtv at the moment. MTV is relatively irrelevent for the charts imo. Pound the Alarm for example, was #1 on TV airplay chart recently, and that has hardly helped it really.
September 23, 201214 yr Good album no1 though & we have a 2 weeker at no1 for a change, PSY next week then 1D for 2 weeks at least after that!!
September 23, 201214 yr Good album no1 though & we have a 2 weeker at no1 for a change, PSY next week then 1D for 2 weeks at least after that!! Yeah, I think One Direction might have more longevity than people think, since their release hasn't been held back for as long as usual.
September 23, 201214 yr I don't bother with it no more. OCC site will update pretty soon. Was just wanting to look at some of the videos but it kept freezing on full screen. Seems to be OK now!
September 23, 201214 yr MTV is relatively irrelevent for the charts imo. Pound the Alarm for example, was #1 on TV airplay chart recently, and that has hardly helped it really. I think MTV is a massive effect for certain songs but with the specific example of PTA and even Startships she releases the video too late when the track has been out a while and radio is playing it alot. If a video is released at the right time it will help a certain song climb massively. PTA has stabilised in the top 40 due to the video getting massive rotation!
September 23, 201214 yr Yeah, I think One Direction might have more longevity than people think, since their release hasn't been held back for as long as usual. Yeah the release strategy is interesting!
