The Las Vegas quartet return in September with 'Battle Born', the follow-up to 2008's hugely acclaimed 'Day & Age.'

"I see every album as a reaction to the album before it. Sometimes it's a reaction to the critics, which is ridiculous. I shouldn't listen so much to what they say. But I don't write songs to try to make them happy. We write songs that we like to play." - Brandon Flowers - HMV

Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

P!nk will return with her sixth studio album 'The Truth About Love' in September. Here she explains her thoughts behind her latest project:

"The Truth About Love is one of my favourite songs on the record, but I realized it also sums up my whole adventure in this lifetime. I used to be really motivated to do really dangerous and stupid things for love, and I was really fearful of love. When I was a little girl, 'love' meant fighting and bickering and losing your parents. But now love is also having a child and unconditional and beautiful and, with my husband, sexual. Musically, it's not a Sade record, where you know what you're going to get when you put it on. It's a P!nk record; you have no idea what you're going to get. I don't know what I'm doing when I go in to record an album, so I think that's the theme: questions and experiences and running from - and running to - love." - P!nk - HMV

Paradise

Coldplay began working on Mylo Xyloto in 2009, while the band was still in the midst of its multi-year tour in support of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Recording sessions stretched from 2009 to 2011, with Brian Eno collaborating with the band on several songs and R&B singer Rihanna lending her vocals to “Princes of China.” Markus Dravs, Daniel Green, and Rik Simpson all shared production credits, too, resulting in a diverse album inspired by industrial rock and electro-pop. Coldplay began debuting the new tracks as early as May 2011, with “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” kicking off a string of anthemic singles.

Album Sampler

Tempest, Bob Dylan's 35th album, continues to employ blues, country, folk, and ragged rockabilly to carry his songs. Unlike many of his recent recordings, however, he's largely left 1930s and early-'40s pop out of the mix here. Themes on Tempest are generally dark, rife with violence and tragedy -- including the title track, a 14-minute, 45-verse retelling of the Titanic saga. Also included are "Roll On John," a tribute to John Lennon, a roadhouse blues rave-up in "Early Roman Kings," and a nine-minute ballad entitled "Tin Angel." Dylan employed his road band and guest David Hidalgo from Los Lobos in the studio. - HMV

Call Me Maybe

This year's breakout pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen releases her eagerly anticipated UK debut album, 'Kiss' via 604 Records/Schoolboy Records/Interscope Records.

The Canadian singer and songwriter wrote or co-wrote songs on the album, collaborating with songwriters and producers Max Martin, Dallas Austin, LMFAO's Redfoo, Toby Gad, Marianas Trench singer Josh Ramsay and Matthew Koma. Jepsen's latest single 'Good Time', a duet with Owl City, has garnered great reaction across national and commercial radio, while the video, featuring Jepsen and Young, has racked up more than six million views on VEVO.

"These are lyric and song ideas that I have been collecting over the years," Jepsen says of Kiss. "I can't tell you how lucky I feel to be able to collaborate with some of my dream producers. It has been the most fulfilling experience. The record is pop. It's inspired by Robyn, The Cars, Madonna, and believe it or not, James Taylor. I can't wait to share it with everyone! Kiss."

Jepsen has been riding high with the success of her smash single 'Call Me Maybe', which has sold more than 7.3 million singles worldwide and has spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 so far, tying Goyte's "Somebody That I Used To Know" for most weeks atop the chart this year. Here in the UK, it's the second biggest single of the year selling a million copies and having spent 12 weeks in the Top 10, four of them at the top of the charts. Certified quintuple-platinum in Jepsen's native Canada (where it also hit No. 1), the track is an international sensation, climbing to No. 1 in the iTunes Singles charts in over 37 countries including the U.S. U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and more. It also earned her a 2012 MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best New Artist. - HMV

Ill Manors

This third album from London-based rapper Plan B is the soundtrack to his debut feature film of the same name, a gritty 'hip-hop musical' set on a brutal council estate, which he wrote and directed. Leaving behind the soul direction he took on 2010’s The Defamation of Strickland Banks, here he returns to the hard-edged, overtly political rap of his debut, dealing with the poverty, deprivation and alienation afflicting large segments of Britain’s youth. The title track was released as a single. - HMV

Although Pink rose to prominence as an R&B singer in the classic '90s LaFace mould, a front displayed on her debut CAN'T TAKE ME HOME, it was when she took control of her own image in 2001 that she truly became an icon. While the Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes) composed hit "Get This Party Started" strayed not all that far from her initial dance-pop path, the remainder of M!SSUNDAZTOOD revealed an artist schooled in the punk tradition. Further recordings wandered down multiple paths, cementing Pink's reputation as a genre-bending pop songstress. - HMV

It still flopped Matthew  Mumford and Sons' new single is currently doing better (hasn't had THAT much more airplay than Live It Up), and folk rock isn't exactly a big thing in the UK either. And songs like Ni**as in Paris, ill Manors and Watchtower were easily bigger "urban" hits than LIU

If Tulisa's song had the same success as Mumford and Sons's song, people would also say it was a flop. Both those songs have done well imo, because of what they sound like.

If Tulisa's song sounded like Pound the Alarm, and peaked at #11, I'd say it flopped. But it sounds like a Lil Wayne song, so...

Next to Me is the best-selling urban hit of the year so far though, that did really well.

Really glad the Killers managed to get number 1 album and I'd imagine quite comfortably as well, I thought Pink would form a challenge. I am unfortunately expecting this era to be really disappointing in comparison to their previous albums.
Yay at The Killers holding off P!nk (was only vaguely worried she might overtake anyway though). P!nk will almost certainly outsell them overall I reckon so it's just good to see them keep up their 100% #1 studio albums streak. Brilliant to see Plan B get a seventh week top 10 as well :D

Best album got there in the end and a quick nudge

Pleased to see Ne-Yo actually holding up reasonably well so far, he's got an X Factor performance coming up as well which could keep this top 10 for quite a few more weeks.

PSY top 3 then - just a question of whether or not he's got #2.

THIS IS AWFUL. What's the appeal? Ergh, so much more deserving music should have this type of exposure.
Definitely not jumping on this bandwagon (and lets face it, that's all this really is)
